prooftheory said: …i’m aware this sounds like the Neurotypical response to insomnia but, i mean. it works a good portion of the time. it might help if you’re not ready to test out melatonin yet? b/c warning: it can make you quite groggy when you wake up prooftheory said: so i cannot vouch for melatonin, but i installed f.lux on my computer/phone and that’s really seemed to help? like if i turn all the main lights off ~1 hour before i want to fall asleep and just keep a bedside lamp on and just like, read something that isn’t a textbook or watch some youtube videos or something, my brain will /usually/ be like ‘ah, it is night, time to rest’.
ahh thanks so much!! downloading flux now. and shit thanks for the warning about melatonin :// think I’ll hold off on that then.
(also no this was really helpful!! i don’t think im having insomnia of a clinical variety right now, thank god, just serious difficulties adjusting my sleep schedule to something that works for my needs atm.)

Some of the stuff the NBC commentators say make me wonder if I even speak English
Mike Milbury in particular seems to just be stringing random words together sometimes
2015 book recs
Because @prooftheory asked (whenever anyone ASKS for book recs I jump on it ^_^). (Though, I didn’t read many books this year, so that limits it a bit...)
Magellania by Jules Verne - This was my favorite fiction read this year - survival, socialism, capitalism, greed, heroism, redemption, all set in the southernmost tip of South America...literally one of the best novels I’ve read.
“Bartleby, the Scrivener” by Herman Melville - really good short story
Billy Budd, Sailor by Herman Melville - moral dilemma in the Royal Navy, there’s also a great 1962 movie version
Seven Pillars of Wisdom - a great memoir on Middle Eastern history and WWI, though I recommend watching Lawrence of Arabia first
Works of Love by Søren Kierkegaard - you may have already read this one...I’m actually still in the first half of it, but it’s incredible
Yay, a tag (thanks @prooftheory)!
Rules: tag followers you would like to get to know better.
tagging: No pressure - only if you want to: @thesnowlastthursday, @lady-barbara, @avec-leon, @obeserhino
tagged!
Thanks to @prooftheory for tag! :) This one is to list 6 facts about me:
Currently almost halfway through Seven Pillars and I have a mad crush on Lawrence (the real one), please don’t judge.
SQL is my bane right now...well not actually but it feels like it sometimes.
I gave up on a costume for tomorrow, so I’ll be wearing my Sounders shirt instead. :)
I’ve been a vegetarian for seven months.
Lately I’ve been playing a lot of Scorpion solitaire (off-work, I should emphasize). It’s oddly relaxing.
I believe that sea monsters could exist, and probably do.
Let’s see, I’m not quite sure which of my followers reads my blog regularly; if you do (or don’t, haha), feel free to take this tag!
prooftheory said: i’m in the same boat, one time the library actually made me purchase the book from them, as it was so overdue :| hope you feel better soon!!
Thanks! :) I don’t feel too bad this morning, thankfully it’s just a minor cold. Yeah, they actually sent me a notice about the replacement fee ($25!!)...I rushed down there and returned it, and they cleared that part of the fine. Still embarrassing though...
