Sex education done right
My partner works at a school. It’s a nice school, an Academy. It’s officially a Christian school and has it’s own church… So pretty fancy, y'know.
Anyway, he was telling me about a teacher he is friends with, a biology teacher who, if it’s important, is Muslim. And this teacher saw the syllabus for sex education as it was to be taught in General Studies and decided to take it over with help from my partner. And he did good.
Not only did this wonderful man cover the basics of biology, dangers and condoms, he fully covered all the different types of contraception, whose responsibility contraception is (everybody’s), consent and about different sexualities, including multisexuals and asexuals. I think he covered gender and what transgender is too.
That is what we should teach kids.
I would just like to say, I live in Nebraska, I went to Lincoln East High School, graduated last year. But I actually got a really good sex Ed class, they said they would recommend abstinence and that it's the only 100% for sure way to not get pregnant, but they showed us most forms of birth control. They kept stressing abstinence, but they still showed us exactly what to do if we "didn't roll that way" (exact words from my teacher). And I would like to say that's pretty good for a conservative state. And I don't care what you BELIEVE I should do, just as long as you tell me what to do in case I decide to have sex.
