Merry Cringemas everyone!
Tonight @therealjacksepticeye, @markiplier, Pewdiepie, Emma and PJ completed their goal and thanks to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have raised a total of $1.3MILLION to help eradicate HIV/AIDS. Here are some of the bits I thought were worth sharing!
Well done guys!
I’ve spent the last 4 hours watching @therealjacksepticeye, Pewdiepie, @markiplier, Emma and PJ raise $100k for the RED charity to combat and eradicate HIV/AIDS, which YouTube then matched dollar for dollar. Well done guys! If you read this please please please consider watching their second livestream tomorrow (6pm GMT?) as the Gates Foundation is donating $10 for every $1 raised, up to a million, so please donate.
P.s. thanks for reading out my name on the stream, I was having a rubbish day and that, along with the stream in general, made it so much better.
Webcam: Sled Dog Puppies
Pssst. There are like 5 new sled dog pups in Denali. This is a 24/7 webcam of their kennel. You’re welcome.
Dear non-natives
The Plains warbonnet is not a Cherokee thing. It is not a Navajo thing. It is not an Indian thing. It is a Plains thing.
Stop calling every silly thing you draw that even vaguely resembles a native “Cherokee” or “Navajo” or “Aztec.”
Stop drawing the warbonnet everywhere as the apparently definitive native thing. It isn’t part of all of our 600+ cultures.
Same goes for the tipi, not part of every one of the 600+ indigenous cultures.
Stop thinking that if a native person doesn’t have dark, “mahogany” skin, that their heritage is invalid. Even without admixture, we actually do have varying skin tones.
Stop wearing crappy fake warbonnets.
Stop wearing redface.
Stop using us as your silly mascots. We are people.
Stop saying “spirit animal.” It’s derived from a New Age bastardization of a something that actually exists in some of our cultures.
Don’t smudge. Cleanse all you like, that’s fine, but don’t smudge.
Don’t call us “Indians.” “Native American” isn’t great either, it is not our name, but it’s slightly better than “Indian.” “Indigenous” is also fine.
Don’t use NDN/ndn. That is ours.
Step off about our hair. If you meet a long-haired native, admire it if you like, maybe even ask them about it (RESPECTFULLY), but do not touch. The same applies for someone with short hair, but additionally for those with short hair, don’t say things like “oh you’d look more native/Indian/etc if your hair was long.” We didn’t all traditionally have long, flowing hair. Believe it or not, there are actually different haircuts existing in our various cultures, and aside from that ultimately it’s a personal choice, one does not need to have long hair if they don’t want to. Doesn’t make them any less native to have short hair.
Don’t pray to our spirits/gods/energies. Native spiritualities are closed, they are not for outsiders.
Don’t say “The Native Americans believed…” Firstly, the past tense is silly, we still exist and do things. Secondly, we are NOT A MONOLITH. As I mentioned before, there are upwards of 600 different Native American cultures.
Don’t ask about someone’s “Indian name.” That’s not only insensitive, the name you are referring to in that instance is something sacred, and might not be something that person wants to share with you.
Don’t call yourself silly crap like “howling wolf” or “flying eagle.” That’s also racist and insensitive.
Regardless of whatever you might think you’re doing, or what your intentions may be, if a native person tells you that what you’re doing is disrespectful, STOP DOING IT.
You aren’t honoring us. You’re just mocking us further, demonstrating your continued ability to treat us like shit and get away with it even now, centuries after our colonization began. Your feelings are not more important than our history and survival.
To those doing your best as allies, thank you, keep doing what you do. HOWEVER, don’t let opportunities to educate others escape you. By letting them continue to be ignorant, you are failing. Spread the message.
There will be no “please.” It’s been more than 500 years, and we still are made to be invisible in our homelands. Still we are treated like less. Some even think we all died long ago.
We are still here
We will still be here
Treat us with respect.
Appropriation of Native cultures runs rampant in the pagan/witchcraft community. Remember, it’s just like kindergarten. Be kind, be respectful, and ask before touching something that does not belong to you. -Bri
Just so you know, you can always watch the Earth live from the ISS. Its really relaxing to me (the music they play is soothing too)

hey psa to my fellow fat ppl: a few tips + tutorials for upsizing clothing that’s too small, that way if you’ve grown out of certain stuff and can’t afford new things, you can make it fit you– this has helped me a lot in the past
my tips:
cutting off just the neckline of a shirt/dress can help SO much
cutting slits on the sides of tight shirts helps relieve tightness + you can add an accent fabric, lace, or fishnet material under there for an extra design element (or safety pin it back together for a really cool punk look!)
you can do that same thing with sleeves but i recommend doing it underneath (either on the seem if it has one or to the seem that connects it to the shirt)
adding false pleats to skirts/dresses by cutting them up the sides and in the front and adding an accent fabric works really well with tightness around the legs
you can do a lot of these side-cut things to pants but if you do, it’s a good idea to add elastic to the waist band!
tutorials:
4 ways to upsize shirts
how to refit/re-elastic a waistband for a better fit
more upsizing shirts!
making a lace insert dress (could be substituted for other things like mesh/fishnet)
increasing the waist band on jeans
how to enlargen shorts
expanding a dress (from the bottom)
expanding a dress (from the bust)
I was tagged by @odge-gribble Rules: In a text post, list 10 books that have stayed with you in some way. Don’t take but a few minutes, and don’t think too hard - they don’t have to be the “right” or “great” works, just the ones that have touched you. Tag 10 friends, including me, so I’ll see your list. Make sure you let your friends know you’ve tagged them! 1. Weird Sisters - Terry Pratchett 2. Good Omens - Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman 3. Chesapeake Blue - Nora Roberts 4. Odds are, in the wake of Brexit, we’ll see an upsurge in harassment and violence against people who look, sound or otherwise appear to be foreign and/or Muslim.
Let’s agree to try and be vigilant, to watch for people being bothered, being split off from a group, harassed, or worse. Let’s agree not to stand by when we see it happening.
If you want Britain to be Great again, even though (regardless of why you voted the way you did) the referendum has lent more credence to people wielding racist, xenophobic rhetoric, you’ll have to do it yourselves.
So do it.
Don’t leave it to Facebook statuses about the hate and fear overtaking the country. Extend it to your neighbours, your friends, and strangers in the street. I’ll help. I remember when I first came here in 2003, I remember the British people and the foreigners living in the UK who helped me.
Keep your eyes and ears peeled. Watch for situations where you need to intervene.
You don’t have to be Batman every time. See a man being harassed on your night out? Shout, “Oi, we wondered where you’d got to,” and swoop in around him. See a woman being bothered in the street? Say, “Sorry I’m late, shall we?” and usher her into the nearest shop.
I don’t care why you voted Leave, if you did. Unfortunately, the outcome handed a false legitimacy to people who want Britain to be white instead of great, but let’s be real - they were already getting louder and prouder. Jo Cox proved that.
I don’t care why you voted Remain, either, if you did it to try and keep us safer or to try and save the economy.
Pull together and handle the fallout. Remember those who are most vulnerable and watch their backs.
We’re not all in this together - that much is clear. But if you feel we should be, if you remember that Britain was made great, and continues to be great, at the expense of and, more recently, also with the aid of, foreigners… Then be in it with us.
Let there be a kernel of humanity inside whatever storms are about to swoop down on this country.
If you can’t be Great Britain, be great and IN Britain.

REPORT IT TO THE POLICE.
saxifraga-x-urbium’s tags:
#there’s a government statistical reason for this i promise#it may not do immediate good but it helps#if they are able to keep track#evidence is an important part of whatever happens next#police reports are evidence#please report it#report it
Princessfuckyouknickers query:
can witnesses report the attacks as well ? Instead? Would that be useful? Would it count?
A witness can support a report and that is very valuable but direct abuse rather than written generally has to be reported by the victim I think

Brexit and me
This is all my personal opinion. If you disagree, that is your right, but I am far from in the mood to be attacked for it so just don't, ok? Three days ago I made myself leave the house, a rare occurrence and walk for half an hour under a burning sun (for Wales, anyway), trying to find my polling station for the EU referendum, which was very badly signposted. But I tried and overcame my crippling anxiety because it was important to me. I desperately didn't want to leave the EU, because I wasn't buying what the Leave campaign was selling. And I was determined to do my bit. Two days ago I woke up and immediately checked the results. I must've stared at my screen for 5 minutes in absolute horror. I felt numb. I logged into Facebook, read through the anger and horror and sadness of most of my British friends. And felt nothing. But throughout the day I read articles about the pound dropping and I watched the figurehead of the Leave campaign admit he couldn't keep some of the promises that the whole campaign had rested on. No, the NHS would not be getting the money we'd be saving from the eu, because we wouldn't actually be saving as much as they said we would. No, immigration would not cease completely. And I started to panic. For the last 48 hours, I've been struggling to breathe. I'm scared for the LGBT+ community, of which I am a member, as our rights are currently enforced by the EU. I'm scared for prices rising, because there are so many currently struggling to make ends meet as it is. I'm scared because the British government has not been the one funding science and technology for a long time. I'm scared by the vast amounts of xenophobia already bubbling to the surface, the British born PoC (particularly Muslims) who are getting told to go home, the immigrants being verbally abused. You've probably seen the tweets here on Tumblr or in Facebook. I find myself trying to work out how I can leave this country that I no longer trust or consider my own. I'm trying to work out if having one Scottish adoptive parent will save me when Scotland votes for independence; will it be enough to claim citizenship? My only moments of anything resembling hope are when people talk about the possibility of a second referendum, of the EU not letting us leave, of Scottish parliament blocking it. But even then, it's very fleeting before someone says it won't happen; it's democracy and we're just being sore losers. So to any of my friends who voted leave, I have this to say: I don't hate you, I'm not even angry at you. I'm just disappointed. You all had reasons for it. But please don't blame me for being upset and angry at the result. You may not be xenophobes yourself, but you have validated those that are, they think you stand with them because you voted alongside them. How do you feel knowing that the things they promised were lies? To those of you who cried that our MEPs are undemocratic because we don't vote them in (by the way, we do vote them in, in a fairer way than we vote MPs in actually), how do you feel now that we're going to have an unelected prime minister soon? Cameron will be replaced by somebody we haven't voted for. And to those who voted to Leave in Wales...what were you thinking? Wales gets so much from the EU, do you really think we'll get the same from parliament? Britain is no longer Great and the Kingdom is no longer United.
Eighteen hours later.
Hate gets its running shoes on.
Should we be surprised
This is terrifying
It’s father’s day, and I have no real time to finish this, but I wanted all my Trekkie friends and family all around the world to have this. ANTON YELCHIN 1989-2016 mrscratch0753.tumblr.com
R.I.P. Anton Yelchin, who has passed away at the age of 27, AP and TMZ report:
Actor Anton Yelchin, known for his roles in “Star Trek” and “Alpha Dog,” was killed early Sunday morning after getting pinned by his own car … TMZ has learned.
Yelchin’s friend became alarmed because he was supposed to meet them hours earlier for a rehearsal. They went to his San Fernando Valley home at around 1 AM and found him pinned between his car and a brick mailbox, which was attached to a security gate.
Law enforcement tells us the engine was running when his body was discovered, and the car was in neutral. The driveway was on a fairly steep incline. It’s unclear why he got out of the car.
