Sunday bunday. ❤️🐰 (at Bushwick, Brooklyn)
@Regrann from @thefluffygroup - Picture from Action for Rabbits. We have all seen photos of bunnies on their backs, who look like they are asleep and just being cute. Sadly, they aren't. The state they are in is called "tonic immobility" but is known in the rabbit community as "trancing". It is inherent only to prey animals. It is their way of "protecting" themselves when they are terrified. They are, in fact, acting "dead". The vitals (blood pressure, pulse) have been proven to change drastically during this immobility. Rabbits in this stage can die. Do not mistake this behavior for enjoyment. I've seen people "cradle" their bunnies in this state, thinking that because the buns don't move, they enjoy it. No, they don't. They are just terrified. Help spread the word, please share. ---- #rabbit #bunnies #trancing #tonicimmobility #bunnycare #properrabbitcare #Regrann
