(continued from here.)
And those footsteps were quick. Fleeing, in fact, from the much more thunderous rumbling of an enormous creature not far behind. Kakarrot didn’t know who the person in his path was or where they came from, but he intercepted them just the same, toppling both the stranger and himself head over foot to the ground. “Get down!” he managed to gasp out, hurriedly dragging both he and his rather stupefied company -- captive? -- under the overhang of a large spar of red stone. Holding his breath -- though it was difficult with how winded he was from his sprinting retreat -- he covered the person’s mouth with his hand to keep them from making a sound, tail fanning from side to side anxiously. A second passed, then two, and then in a flash the hulking form of a gigantic animal galloped past; six muscular legs thick as tree trunks, at least a dozen darting, squinting eyes like live, burning coals covering its huge, horned head. It skidded to a stop, lifted its head, enormous nostrils flaring as it pawed the ground, and then continued on its way, letting out an echoing, screeching roar.
Gradually, Kakarrot exhaled. They were safe for now.
“Are you alright?”
