She’s not the biggest fan of rain. It’s cold, soggy, and hard to move around as freely as she’d normally be able to otherwise. There’s too much chance of slipping, for one, especially when trying to navigate and climb the outer towers of a village forever soaked in rain without using chakra so as to avoid detection.
Jumping from makeshift ledges and gripping on to hand-holds with her fingertips might as well be suicide in the downpour…but trying to navigate it and getting caught would be assured suicide. After all…if Jiraiya had failed to fend of Pain, what would she be able to do if it came to a battle?
No, she was to sneak in and find a weakness—exploit it if possible, memorize it if not—and escape with her life. The ‘with her life’ is unexpectedly difficult. In fact, when—inevitably—she lands wrong on a weirdly angled cliff and her ankle gives out, she thinks there’s a fair chance she’s just failed that bit before she even managed to attempt the rest.
Fortunately, she only falls a short distance before something breaks her fall. Unfortunately, the ‘something’ is a person she’s landed on top of. Even more so, she somehow managed to sprawl herself across him in such a way when she landed that their lips…sort of…end up…mashed together in a way that might be considered a kiss. (But she absolutely refused to count it!)
Much more important was that the ‘someone’ had vibrant orange hair, obnoxious piercings…and the rinnegan (if the description she heard was right). Of all the people in the village to land on…she just had to drop right on the person she was trying to hide from.
…After this if she survived she was landing right back in the Academy.
