Abstract
The National Commission on Culture and Arts (NCCA) has been mandated to dispense the national endowment fund for culture through grants and funding support to State Universities and College, Civil Society Organizations and Local Government Units. As per legal basis, NCCA through RA 10066 or better known as cultural heritage act of 2009 sustains Philippine culture and heritage agencies such as the National Museum (NM), National Library of the Philippines (NLP), National Archives of the Philippines (NAP), National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF). On the other hand, both duly recognized student associations from the School of Liberal Arts (SLA) such as the Communication Society and English Society, composed of BA Communication and AB English students respectively. During the 1st semester 2017-18, under the culture-related courses offered in SLA like culture in language, popular culture, structure of Filipino language and retorikang Filipino. Since NCCA is composed of four Subcommissions and 19 committees, the SLA CommSoc and EngSoc was organized accordingly. AB English 3 section A and B who are taking up Language in Culture and was assigned to submit proposals regarding drama, literature and language under the Subcommission on the Arts and Cultural Dissemination. While the graduating AB English students were tasked on focus on monuments and sites, museums, art gallery and archives under the Subcommission on Cultural Heritage. Meanwhile, the BA Comm3 students were designated to come up with grants proposals on communication and history under the Subcommission on cultural dissemination and cultural heritage respectively. Lastly, the senior Communication students were relegated to take on the cinema under the Subcommission on the arts.
