Labeling is irrelevant.

Jaffe's remark takes on two meanings:

CSPI doesn't think you should have the right to know if the foods you are eating contain GMO ingredients.

GMO labeling is irrelevant because GMO labeling will not prevent GMO crops from cross-pollinating with organic crops. GMO labeling is nothing but giving the biotech industry carte blanche to eliminate organic crops via cross-pollination.

Just posted the following comment on this article where PETA supports the usage and consumption of lab-grown beef:

It's more humane to grow beef in a lab, but I will pass. How will I be sure if the stem cells used to grow the beef comes from grass-fed cows raised naturally or cows fed GMO feed and GMO growth hormones? See, this is why GMO labeling laws such as California's Proposition 37 and Washington's I-522 are SORELY needed.

Lab-grown beef reduces animal cruelty, but it's still beef nonetheless. Beef is not a necessary food. Eating vegan would be far better for your health.

If they reject my comment, then it just reaffirms my belief that they are a fraudulent group. But then again, they think it's okay for you to eat GMO soy burgers made by phony "natural" brands which are owned by corporations who not only push GMO ingredients on you but also think you shouldn't have the right to know if the foods you're eating contain GMO ingredients.

"Organic" is just a selling point these days. The only thing rest-assured organic is something you grew yourself - or knew the person who grew it. Fortunately, as a society we've come a LONG way from 30, 50, 80 years ago. At the very least in the livestock business - but within the realm of the pollutants being thrown upon crops. Sure, we want the idealism of having perfect food from a land far, far away...but that is not the case. It is not realistic - the realistic would involve growing your own food or shopping from local outfits. Which is tangible. Unfortunately, as our idealisms grow so does our hypocrisy.  If you buy at places like Wal-Mart or cut-rate superstores or markets, you are one who is to blame.  So the idealist must recognize the idealism also within himself and implicate himself.
