Jared sighed, leaning back and tapping on the screen of his phone. His face was scrunched together, and he looked like he was holding back tears. His shirt caught some of his sparkles, drawing them away from his face and leaving it mostly in the darkness of the room.

Satch poked his head out of the closet room, frowning. “That didn’t sound good at all.” He slid out of the closet, sitting by Jared’s side. “Do you mind talking about it?”

Jared placed his phone on his lap, clenching his teeth. “She heard that I was in a relationship and started to yell at me for ‘getting into a relationship with those lower than you’, and that I should get a girlfriend that she approves of.” He picked at the edge of his blue shirt. “One that’ll whip me into shape.”

“...you’re in better shape than I am.” Satch said, scooting over to Jared and wrapping an arm around his shoulder. “Was there anything else, or was it just yelling at you being happy again?”

“... just yelling at me being happy.”

“And we both know that she’s spouting her usual crap about controlling you. Remember, I’m here.” Satch squeezed Jared’s shoulder, smiling. “Want to play some Last Fairytale?”

Jared wiped at his eyes, starting to snicker. “Are you going to sing the title song terribly again?”

“Nooooo, what are you talking about?” Satch asked, turning away from Jared and going to get the TV out of the closet.

“You’re totally going to do it! Dude, I will totally name the girl after you!”

“Don’t do that, Jared.” Satch sighed, opening the closet door and glancing over it. “Please.”

“Hmmm. Maybe I will if you sing the title song terribly...”

“You take the fun out of my life, Jared...” Satch sighed dramatically, leaning against the doorway. Satch made a small noise of surprise, and he straightened. “Or maybe we could play some Turbie?”

“You’ve bewitched me for sure- how else could I fall so madly in love with you?” He whispered gently to the darker skinned boy he had taken captive behind one of the bookshelves. 

“I thought falling madly in love with someone would be an incubus’s work, and here, i thought I should really be asking you.” the familiar chuckled, and they leaned in to stifle their sounds.

“No incubus could make love feel like this.” Jared whispered back to him before they met for a short kiss.

90. “I don’t want to think about what I’d be like without you.”

The two were in their shared room, cuddling together and holding hands. After a series of shared kisses, very flirty comments, and jokes, Jared separated from his boyfriend with a thoughtful look on his face, looking out the window.

Satch noticed this and tilted his head slightly. “Is there something wrong?”

Jared shook his head, eyes widening. “No, no, nothing is wrong! I’m just...” His thoughtful look returned, and Satch waited patiently. Jared focused back onto Satch, and took a breath. “Well... I was thinking of how I met all of you. You guys showed me that I didn’t need to be perfect.”

“Mmmm.” Satch hummed, and Jared obviously was struck by Satch’s voice, his next words catching in his throat for a few seconds.

Jared managed to continue, “W-Well, that then led to... well, how you and I were roommates this year, and our relationship is just the most wonderful thing I’ve ever experienced.” He brushed a hand through his hair, causing a few sparkles to glint off the sunlight. “I...” Jared’s eyes became down again, obviously with him lost in thought.

Satch smiled. “Was it truly the most wonderful thing you’ve experienced?”

“Yes!” Jared nodded. “Absolutely! I just...” Jared bit his lip. “I don’t want to think about what I’d be like without you.”

“Well...” Satch drew his boyfriend close, kissing his forehead, “you won’t have to think about that when I’m right here, right?”

Jared has literally called Satch his husbandbecause Satch is husbandu matrial. He’s very organized and neat, and seeminglyalways ready at any moment. He makes sure meetings run smoothly, and bringssnackies for everyone. Satch is the ultimate husband.

Jared has hit on Satch so much, that Satchis immune to it.. a little tooimmune.

At first it was just fun and games, butthe lil pro actually began to fall for the lil satchell like a bag. Vaguehitting on began to turn into rather specific, almost-ask-him-out-on-a-datehitting on, which he would laugh off on the account of, hey, Jared is Jared.

Jared gives up on Satch. He feels he’soverstepped his boundaries way too soon, and now Satch cant take him seriously,but he also feels he cant be much more straight forward without being sure ifSatch even swings that way. He tries to find out, (hence asking everyone innormal boots what their plans were for the festival), but Satch isn’t veryspecific, and Jared can’t bring himself to ask.

They go to the flower festival separately.Every time Jared sees just a glimpse of Satch maybe in the crowd, maybe playinga game, maybe meeting up with another normal boots member, Jared gets all butmobbed by girls. He’s only able to escape by leaving the festival early, afterhaving hurt his leg, and he limps back to the dorm.

He heads back to their dorm only to findSatch then and there, getting ready for bed. Satch admits that maybe he shouldhave gone with someone, but it was too late for that now. Jared warily agrees,and makes a rather loud noise of pain once his leg hits up against something.Satch is on the case!! Aaand finds out that Jared had twisted his ankle, andwould definitely not be able to climb onto his bunk bed. They banter over whomight sleep where, and eventually Satch just suggests for now they both sharethe bottom bunk.

Its quiet, but Jared has a lot on hischest. He talks very vaguely, at odds with himself, about how he doesn’t really‘get along’ with his Family. Satch is very sympathetic and understanding, as always,but this was the closest Jared had let anyone get to him almost ever. He canbarely shut up about it, but does by asking Satch about his childhood andfamily.

Satch had grown up in a simple place at asimple time. He had a small family, but a group of tightly knit individualsliving on the same block ended up being just like family to him. It soundedreally nice. Jared couldn’t help be a little envious, but eventually they fallasleep together.

Over the next couple of days, Satch takecares of overdramatic little Jared, but they continue to learn more about eachother, but its noticeable that Jared catches himself more on the little thingsand tends to shut himself up. He’s still hiding things, but Satch is sure tolet him know that that was fine, and Jared could tell him as much or as littleas he wants to.

One day, Satch returns with some soup, andJared is on the phone. A voice is coming though almost crystal clear- a yellingwoman. Jared looks distraught, and Satch goes to his side, asking if everythingwas okay. The woman momentarily goes silent.

“Is that the Drakes boy? Your roommate?”Her tone is suspicious, and Jared is afraid of what comes next. The phone is upto his ear, and his eyes are wide and glassy, like he was caught betweenputting up a front and having an emotional meltdown. He wants to hang up, buthe cant bring himself to do so- not on his mother.

Jared sits there helplessly as his mothercalls both him and his ‘good for nothing, probably penniless roomate’ names,and watches as Satch continues to kneel by the bed, his face stoney andunreadable. Finally, Jared’s mother finishes her tirade, telling Jared to ‘stopplaying games’ and being injured to get out of his duties, and tells Satch togo back to the hole he crawled out of, and leave her son alone- that he hadbetter people to spend his time with. She even implied that she would look intoseeing Jared get a room by himself. She tears though Jared once again, leavinga burning path of destruction. Finally, finally,the call ends, and the two boys are left in silence.

Jared apologizes, barely keeping up hisfront. He laughs, nervously, willing to push it off as ‘oh, just motheroverreacting’, but Satch stops him, firm, but not angry. It wasn’t alright forher to do that. Had she always been that way? It wasn’t alright.

Jared continues to insist that she wasjust that way and probably nothing would happen, but Satch isn’t willing to letgo. Yes, he was a stranger, but the things said about her own son!!! That’s whatwas really upsetting him.

It takes some more prodding, but Jaredeventually breaks. He tells Satch… everything. About his mother, about his reallast name, about his responsibilities and his expectations. The info takesforever to get across. He’s laying in Satch’s bottom bunk as Satch sits on thefloor, and he just… lets everything spill. Half way though, Satch takes hishand, and he feels like he’s been given the strength to continue.

And although it didn’t solve anything, itmakes him feel better. He gets a little teary-eyed, but he remained strong. He’salways had to. At the end he finds words hard to say- he’s said just abouteverything, throwing his ‘popular boy’ front onto the table and letting it air.He really tries to explain himself, but Satch says he’s done enough, kissingthe back of Jared’s hand they were holding.

That night, they were up super late, andslept in the next day- both of their first absence from class. Jared was ofcourse, feeling guilty as hell, but Satch really didn’t want to leave the boyalone- not for more than a moment, not after what he had gone though. Somehow,between that event and Jared getting back into the full swing of this sort of,emotional front he put up for everybody, he and Satch began this… thing whereJared would gently pull on Satch’s jacket if he needed to ‘talk’ with him aboutwhatever been bothering him. They would meet back at the dorm as soon aspossible, Jared would take Satch’s hand, and they’d talk

Somehow, hand holding and back-of-the-handkissing turned into a realization. This was… all but a relationship. And Satchwas taking everything that Jared was giving him- none of which was verypositive.

Jared began to show Satch moreappreciation for dealing with him, and tried to, in return, coax Satch intoletting him know that It’d be ok for him to share his feelings too. Jared wasgood at hiding his issues behind a few sparkles and a charming personality, buthe figured out that Satch was somehow doing the same with just a genuine smile.Satch, himself, was hiding his stress.

Jared finally pulled Satch aside one day,and once they met back up in their dorm, Jared was waiting, smiling sadly,sitting on the bottom bunk. Satch asked him what might have been going on. Wasit his mother again? Was it paul? But as Satch sat down next to his highlysuspicious friend, Jared picked up Satch’s hand and kissed the back of it, thensort of whispered that he loved Satch, and had done a bad way of showing it.

When asked (by a surprised and somewhatflustered Satch) to explain, Jared said that he had opened up so much to him,that he hadn’t given Satch time to open up to him too. He apologized for makingit all about him. He wanted to know more about Satch, especially if he wanted to date him.

Satch is silent for a while, still a bitflustered, and isn’t sure where to start. Jared just… encourages him to startfrom the beginning- they’d have forever to learn more about each other…

Other thangs:

-There’s a whole second plot about Jared’smom finding out about her gay-ass son and its not pretty.

-Satch has never played D&D but has toclaim the stuff in the room as his (its actually Jared’s)

-They watch old cartoons together.

-They mostly just sleep together on Satch’sbunk.

-Satch is honestly mesmerized by Jared’sdancing skills

-As is Jared mesmerized by Satch’s singingskills.

-But Satch doesn’t like to sing aroundother people!! His boyfriend gushes over him a lot. Tho.

-People arnt sure If theyre dating???Jared is very tamaki-esque (From Ouran High School Host Club) so they arnt sureif he just flirts with Satch particularly hard???

-They like holding hands a lot, its grownto be a very comforting thing, but theyre more likely to do it under the tableor at club meetings rather than out in public.

-Jared is so gay for his boyfriend. Suchvery much gay.
