Okay but Lucas Sinclair????? A legend, an icon, deserves the fucking world. First up, he's the brother of Erica Sinclair. Already a fantastic start. Then he's also a little shit but also the only og member of the party with a healthy level of self preservation and suspicion.
Like random superpowers girl shows up and says some vaguely threatening shit and he's like "hey guys maybe we should stay a lil bit cautious we're literally children and she's saying we might die and she can kill us with her mind" and his friends are like "stfu she's cool" and then he's proven RIGHT when she THROWS HIM BODILY ACROSS THE JUNKYARD AND KNOCKS HIM TF OUT.
Also his relationship with Max???? Real and wholesome af. His parents are brilliant in the few scenes we see them in, and he's like "my girlfriend is mad at me what should I do?" and his dad says "apologise and give her flowers" and after a lil bit of back and forth he p much does exactly that.
They "break up" and get back together a lot in that childish way kids do, where it's more "I'm mad at you and you have to fix it" than "I want to stop seeing you" and he's understanding and supportive when they're older and she's having a terrible fucking time dealing with trauma.
And he's there for his friends but still brave enough to pursue his own interests.
He's outcast by the party for playing sports (and he's damn good at it). He's outcast by the rest of the school for playing dnd and for being a black kid in a suburban predominantly white area in rural indiana in the 80s. He still plays dnd and basketball because he loves them both, fuck what the rest think. He's not scared off by Billy when he's getting together with Max, he's understanding of her grieving the guy who assaulted him on several occasions because he was still Max's brother even if they both acknowledge he wasn't good to either of them. He gives her space when she asks for space, and he's there when he can see she wants him there.
He's just such a good dude and nobody talks about him enough imho
I love and support that kid he deserves the world.
I'm really hoping for some lumax scenes in s5 where Max is recovering and doing pt and learning to navigate now she's blind and he's there to support her.
I want more Erica/Lucas sibling scenes because the small snippets of their dynamic have been so good??? like they're siblings so they lowkey hate each other but also he's so protective of her when it matters????
Also I want someone to give him a hug and some major support because he always seems to be the one supporting the others and he deserves some major tlc.
Ofc it was wonderful and probably did a lot for him when he saw Steve was willing to step up to bat to protect him in s2, but also watching him get absolutely pounded into the dust protecting him has to have fucked him up a lil bit, blaming himself and all that.
He's an awkward kid and ofc he cares about the shit kids care about, but he's also so inherently good and lovely and I just want someone to protect him for a bit.
Give that boy a hug give him a lil bit of comfort as a treat.
