iPhone Owners Less Likely to Break Device Compared to Rival Handsets
Despite widespread images of shattered iPhone screens across the internet, a new study of customer data from a smartphone insurance service claims Apple's devices are treated less roughly than rival handsets. ProtectCELL announced Thursday that when it comes to damaging smartphones, iPhone owners are far less likely to treat their devices carelessly -- but misplacing the handset is something else entirely. Based on the company's own customer data gathered from more than two million protection plans sold for smartphones and tablets, iPhone users are "roughly 54 percent less likely to need a replacement device, for any reason" compared to owners of other brands of smartphone. While iPhone owners might not have butterfingers as much as Android, Windows Phone or BlackBerry users, 65 percent of Apple fans apparently misplace or lose their handset entirely, then turn to ProtectCELL for a replacement. The company's latest 2013 data also shows an increased need for tablet protection plans, with customers nearly 90 percent more likely to request a replacement compared to the year prior. ProtectCELL offers a variety of protection plans for the iPhone, iPad and other smartphones and tablets starting at around $2 per month, depending upon the type of device or data customers are looking to protect.
