Prompt/my headcanon: Luci and Gabe raised Cas. They were overprotective, but Gabe was little less. When they come back and see Dean and Cas have a thing, they put Dean through the ringer so he won't bream Cas's heart.
Dean bites his lip and tells Cas goodnight, watching as he walks up the stairs to his bedroom. Leaving Dean with his brothers Gabriel and Lucifer.
“Dean, right?” Lucifer asks, smiling at Dean.
Dean hopes that Lucifer doesn’t live up to his namesake. “Yessir.”
“I’ve heard a lot about you Dean, and I’ve got to say, some of the things I’ve heard are not very nice,” Lucifer says and crosses his arms. Dean swears he can feel the disapproval in his voice. “You like to date people for a week or two, get what you want from them, and just leave.”
Dean nods, not really sure of what he’s supposed to say. He’s got to admit that he has a pretty bad track record, but he’s working on fixing it. And Cas is different, he’s a really cool guy and Dean doesn’t want to hurt him.
“You better not be planning on doing that to Cassie, Dean-o,” Gabriel says from the corner of the room where he’s standing and Dean feels like a deer caught in headlights.
Lucifer smiles. It’s not a very welcoming smile. “Now, I can’t tell Cassie who to date, but I can make sure that whoever he dates won’t hurt him, you understand right. So I’m just going to lay down a few ground rules, that you will follow.”
Dean swallows. “Yessir,” he whispers, and he’s got to be the most scared he’s ever felt. This is worse than talking to a girl’s dad, because the are Cas’ brothers. And they won’t be afraid to throw a couple of punches.
“Don’t force Castiel into doing anything he doesn’t want to do. Don’t bring him home late. Don’t convince him to skip class, or have a bad influence on him. Most importantly Dean, if you even think of hurting my little brother, I won’t hesitate to hurt you.”
Dean nods, understanding absolutely. “I don’t plan to hurt your brother, I really do like him.”
Lucifer smiles and stands up. “That’s good to hear,” he says, and Dean feels that is a dismissal.
He stands up and goes to head to the door, cringing as Gabriel follows him out.
“Hey Dean-o, don’t Lucifer scare you too much. He just doesn’t want to see Castiel hurt, he’s all bark and no bite,” he says and Dean finds that comforting.
“I, on the other hand, won’t hesitate to paint your precious Impala green if you mess with him. Have a good night!” Gabe says and closes the door.
One thing Dean knows for certain. If anyone is going to do the heartbreaking in this relationship, it’ll be Cas.
(This was fun, and I found it a challenge to write. Thank you so much for sending it to me! I hope you like it as much as I liked writing it.)
