This is my way of making amulets. This is a general guide but the example I’m using is the Protective Amulet I made to protect against all spirits you do not specifically welcome into your space.
The first thing that you need to do is decide what you want this amulet to do. Is it for protection? What from? How will it protect you? Is it to hide you from other’s eyes? Is it to help you with your social anxiety? Is it to help you with self love or to heighten your intuition? You can make an amulet for anything but you need to get your intentions set before you start making it.
Second get your sigil made. However you make your sigils you will want to design one based on the intention you’ve set. I used my “You Shall Not Pass” sigil which keeps all spirits out unless they’ve been specifically invited in.
Third cleanse your amulet, I used lavender incense, and allow it to sit and charge on your sigil for the next few hours or overnight.
(I like to fold my sigils into lotus flowers because they burn really pretty that way.)
Fourth after you have allowed your amulet to charge with the sigil you've created. You will want to burn the sigil to activate it. I also used some palo santo wood, dried rosemary, and fir to add some protective elements on top of the sigil.
Light your sigil and desired herbs, etc. in a fire safe container.
As the sigil burns, hold the amulet over the smoke and visualize the sigil and its purpose solidifying within the amulet.

Fifth as the sigil burns and you allow the smoke to bathe the amulet, focus on the intentions and instructions for this amulet. For me, since it’s a heavy duty spirit shield, I concentrated on the amulet creating a barrier around me that shuts out any and all spirits unless I welcome them in. Since the amulet is black tourmaline I used the transmutive properties to set up a thick wall that blocks out all energies and if they attempt to break through it, the energy of their efforts get sucked into the amulet, gets transmuted and powers the amulet itself further.
To recharge this amulet you let it sit under the new moon or bathe it again in protective incense/herb smoke while restrengthening the wards of the protections. You can also recharge it based on what the amulet does. Want it to keep you invisible? Create a glamour that connects to it and when other’s eyes skate over you, harvest that energy (them not seeing you when they should have) to charge the amulet a little more. Is it a self-love amulet? Charge it with rose quartz and love songs. Is it to heighten your intuition? Let it recharge with your divination tools or moonstone.
I think you’ve got the basic idea now. Use your own ideas and correspondences to create the amulet you desire.
