and they always end up sleeping on the same mattress. and both just pretend to be asleep.

mike making the kids follow him, grounding them, giving them purpose and someone to follow. mike doing everything for them that nobody did for him because he’s back in the lab aware of the incoming attack and nobody is listening to him. he’s back in the woods looking for his friend, and the body is being pulled out of the lake. bob is being pulled apart and he can’t even hold himself together because he’s getting will and joyce out of there. the only way he gets attention is lashing out. but now he is the attentive brother checking in with the sibling getting in trouble in school. and now he will make these kids feel like they matter and know that they’re brave. they can look at him.

Thinking about how Mike was the heart of the party in season 1 and 2 (in s2 he wanted to keep everyone together but once he realized they were more preoccupied with girl stuff he said 'fine i'll take care of Will, not like i even need your guys' help 🙄') and in season 3, he slowly stops being the heart, he distances himself from Will especially, and everyone is kind of going their own separate ways now moreso than ever. But then in season 4, Will still has faith in Mike and restores this idea in his head that he is the heart and that he's essential to the party. And this speech flatters Mike and boosts his confidence so that in season 5 he is back to his heroic self 😞🥺

I was rewatching s2 ep8 of stranger things and I noticed some byler-jopper parallels that I don’t think I’ve seen anyone point out.

In this clip, Hopper is holding on to Joyce as Bob gets eaten by a demo-dogs bc shes in shock and stuff and is freaking tf out. They also have just escaped from the lab,

Once he finally drags her out of the lab, it cuts to this scene:

Mike is holding onto Will bc he’s possessed n all and it’s fairly similar to how Hopper is holding Joyce, (even tho it’s not that similar I still think it’s valid) Anyways, these scenes are right after each other like what a coincidence. The duffers don’t make mistakes, everything is intentional. This is one of the parallels that are more directly in your face but easy to miss since the whole scene is very chaotic.

Now here it gets very direct, its literally in your face. they’re literally standing next to each other holding their love interest or wtv. That has to mean something, it has to be some type of parallel. I think it shows the dynamics between byler and jopper and how they care for and console each other and how they’ll go the ends of the earth for each other, (literally).

Then in this scene, they switch. It’s like they want you to see this, they could’ve cut to another scene about Nancy and Jonathan and all them but no. I think this scene shows how Mike and Hopper are both protecters and that’s how they show their love. This was shown for a reason. Maybe there will be some parallels to this type of dynamic in s5, maybe we’ll see Mike taking care of Joyce and making sure she is safe and Hopper doing the same for Will. Maybe Hopper and Mike will bond over that?

There is this scene from bts of st5 im pretty sure so this theory isn’t impossible! Lmk what you guys think tho !!
