Protest leader noting that if they have to spend any more money on legal fees because someone did something stupidly aggressive, they're sending their friends to collect legal fees.
They note that there's no strategic method to disrupt things here.
No vandalism.
My ultra racist mother in law thinks we are going to die because there is a very small riot going on right now in my city (about a mile and a half from where we live). She’s been texting my wife in a panic. She probably thinks people are roaming the streets murdering people but there hasn’t even been an injury. She’s praising the cops here too for “keeping order”.
My wife just sent back a message about how it’s police brutality that caused all this in the first place, so we’ll see how that goes soon.
Hey folks remember if ur going to a march tomorrow, the bigger the march, the worse the cell reception, so make alternative plans with your people in case you get split up
Walkie talkies are good, just make sure that you’re on an unused frequency! Also good old fashioned meeting spots
Went to a local protest in a small town, and it was small but good. Only made the last 15 min but?? A COP HONKED IN SUPPORT?!
Apparently they’re (locally) a bit Upset themselves and this isn’t the first time, but I was STUNNED. Genuinely speechless for a second because usually they just circle around and around but not much else.
We did have One idiot trumper after I arrived but all he could muster was yelling Trump repeatedly out the window while looking at us. Actually, with the speed he was going, shocked he didn’t wreck or run the light somehow, lol. It was so predictable I kind of just laughed.
But wow. Cop honking in support. Thar was…unexpected. Lots of folks also honking in general, but the cop was a suprise. Just. A fucking cop. IN their work vehicle! Honking in support. Wow.
Genuinely though, if you feel like you’re alone as a left leaning person in a small conservative leaning town, I promise you aren’t. Not because of the cop, but because there were maybe 35-45 of us standing out but TONS of support from folks passing by.
There was another protest I went to in another local small town with about a dozen of us and we had someone come up and thank us for showing they aren’t alone. We had SO MANY supportive passerbys. I promise, you are not the only one there.
And the election results for the PSC here, plus across the state show it does matter. It does, that you are there.
For my Seattle folks:
There is a weekly rally against the Gazan genocide in downtown every Saturday. Westlake Center starting at 3. I hadn't seen anything on the protest masterposts going around so here it is. If anyone is feeling helpless, this is something you can do.
If you are planning to go to a protest and you haven’t done it before, hit me up if you want and I’ll tell you what my experience in protests has been. <3
If you want some resources for good places to volunteer or just to talk about stuff, hit me up and I’ll try to point you towards resources.
