Deliciously Protesting!

I recently came across one of my now all-time favorite Instagram pages this morning, and I just wanted to share it with all of you. 

Her name is Tess Wilson, and her Instagram page is called ‘protestcakes’, but if you don’t use Instagram, her website is https://www.tessmariewilson.com/baking/ 

Her cakes and pastries are beautiful and look delicious, but also they are beautiful in the messages she writes on them and the colors she uses for her statements. 

I 11/10 recommend you go check out her IG or website, because you will be in for an awesome treat (or multiple lol)!!

In addition to @protestcakes’s comments below, Brooklyn 99 is one of the few shows I’ve seen with a completely unapologetic bisexual who uses the word “bisexual.” #Repost @protestcakes with @get_repost ・・・ Brooklyn Nine-Nine Cake, made to protest the cancellation of an incredibly hilarious, sweet, inspiring, and diverse show. I realize that there are far worse things happening right now than a show, no matter how beloved, being cancelled, but #Brooklyn99 was everything the future of television AND THE WORLD could be. Two of the lead characters were women, two were Latinx, two were Black, two were queer, one was Jewish, and every single one of them was fleshed out, respected, and unique. It tracked the journey of Jake Peralta as he gradually acknowledged his privilege, did his best to stop being a jerk about it, and began to thoughtfully use it for the betterment of his coworkers and his city. It acknowledged real-world issues like police brutality, racial profiling, sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, and more, all while making super-smort jokes. And it showed that people, no matter how flawed, can help make each other AND THE WORLD better. #Repost @protestcakes with @get_repost ・・・ March For Our Lives Cupcakes, served at the Rockford IL #marchforourlives, a student-organized march & rally that drew an impressive turnout, especially considering the forecasted threat of 9" of snow. The student speakers were so passionate and inspiring, and I shed a few freezing tears when one high school kid broke down as he shared that his 6-year-old sister had come home from an active shooter drill and said that if a shooter came to her school, she knew she would be killed because she's not a fast runner. It doesn't have to be like this. Thank you to all of the many, many students who came out today to say #neveragain. #protestcakes #guncontrolnow
