Punished Guin, a queen denied her happiness
People shit on Guinevere a lot and it upsets me so greatly, because this girl NEVER asked for everything that came to her. Becoming queen a la marrying Arthur? She never got the time to fall in love with him or develop feelings for him, much less even get to KNOW him, and she’d always loved Lancelot. The poor woman had just been coming down the stairs with a tapestry she’d lovingly sewn for the knight only to be told by her father RIGHT IN FRONT OF ARTHUR that she was going to be betrothed to him. She didn’t have a choice, and given her position in that time period--She couldn’t say no even if she wanted to.
AND THEN THE POOR WOMAN GETS ACCUSED OF MURDER??? SHE TRIED TO DO A NICE THING BY PREPARING A FEAST FOR ARTHUR AND HIS KNIGHTS, GETS FRAMED FOR MURDER, THEN NEARLY GETS BURNED ALIVE AT THE STAKE???? AND TO ADD SOME TERRIBLE ICING TO THE TERRIBLE CAKE, NO ONE DEFENDED HER EXCEPT LANCELOT WHO RESCUED HER THEN BEGGED ARTHUR TO PARDON HER AND DECLARED THAT SHE’D NEVER DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT AND HE DAMN WELL KNOWS IT.
