Toyota wins Le Mans!
Panoz Esperante GTR-1. The most unique of the cars to compete in FIA GT1 racing, with a front engined design housing a stock car derived pushrod V8. On top of the unique design, Panoz was also the first to field a hybrid racing car, with a special purple and yellow striped variant nicknamed Sparky, which was let down by the high weight and poor energy density of batteries in the late 90s. Fun fact: the tail lights are just old Mazda MX-6 lights. Supposedly they’ll build a new one for anyone who will pay for it, but I think there’s zero overlap between people who want a brand new 1990s homologation special without any sort of luxury status and people who can just drop a dump truck full of money on something like that.
