It seems apparent that all three men in the oval office the other day fell prey to this.
Making peace requires a discipline of humility, an ability to choose to soften the hardened heart and set aside grievances in the interest of building a way forward.
Probably the most counterintuitive aspect of this is setting aside who was "right" in the situation or "justified" in their offense. I struggle with this daily at home and at work. It is pride that must be stifled to make this work and that is a very hard thing to do sometimes.

Me: So does Modesty. So does Virtue -- and Wickedness, and Greed, and Generosity, and Grief, and Joy, and Forgiveness, and Rage. Everything goeth before a fall. Falls will happen, period. Because Gravity is universal, and mistakes will be made, even with the most meticulous planning, and good intentions.
