“ You really think she'll get special treatment now? Just because of some made up kid? I don't. I wouldn't give her special treatment if it was me in there. ” 

a bitter laugh escapes Maysilee's lips as she sits next to Gale outside. they'd had to cut out the broadcast after that hot mess of an interview, and she'd chosen to appear here and now because she was invested. this isn't the first time the pair have met – she'd appeared to him the first time shortly after his father had died, and she shows up sporadically since then. but ever since Katniss had gotten pulled into this whole mess, Maysilee's kind of just... hung around. she's not visible every waking moment, but she doesn't usually disappear for extensively long periods of time.

“ I can't believe they put her in that dress. And I can't believe that hideous looking pin is getting all the attention now. Mockingjays are so... ugh. Not natural, y'know? Not like Twelve. ” The statement is punctuated with a shudder, and then she turns her gaze to Gale. “ I owned that pin, actually. It wasn't mine, though. It was my grandmother's. There was another one to go along with it, a hummingbird. I think Merrilee probably lost it. There's a story to go along with that, too, but I don't feel like telling it now. Anyway, I promised Haymitch I'd give it a second chance if I survived. That clearly never happened. I get what it means or whatever – doesn't save the ugliness of the pin. Where'd she even get it, anyway? She can keep it. ”

the strider had been extinguished of his reign. he could hardly escape her claws even if he tried. the blackbeak has no qualms with pillaging the corpse for the sins he brought only upon himself. she was a lot more delicate than her clan , was that not enough ?

Katniss hadn't spoken or seen Gale in god knows for how long. Not after what had happened and her sister got killed by the bombs. Katniss of course went back to twelve to live there, never thought she would ever see her old friend ever again. Yes she was still angry and disappointed in him. The brunette just walked out of the woods when she spotted a figure standing in a distance, squinting her eyes a little bit in the hopes to see better who it could be. A sigh escaped the woman's lips when she figured out who it was. As she then was casually walking passed him.

But then Katniss stopped in her tracks. "What are you doing here?" She eventually said, or well asked in this case. The fact he came to the woods, means he came here to twelve to see her.

The thing with portals was that you couldn’t fully sure you would land on the right spot, the right, flat, straight, solid spot, so Emma wasn’t too surprised if the second after setting one foot on wherever she was, her body was already rolling down a slope.  After, for a very long moment, she just stared at the sky above her before snickering with a hand on her stomach, not entirely sure she was still in one piece. Also, she wasn’t alone, as it turned out when she started pulling herself to sit. “Oh hello! Did you see how I got here? Because if you didn’t see it I’ll make up some very awe-inspiring and not at all ridiculous reason behind me laying here.”

“Where is my sword? By the way I’m not sure I didn’t break my body or anything here.”

it was raining out. something she had grown used to years ago but was now foreign to her after spending so long in denali. the rain pattered on the window shield of her BMW as she drove down slick streets, looking forward to seeing charlie soon and singing along to the radio blaring her favorite songs. it had been a long time since she had been in forks, years at the very least, and seeing it again now made her heart flutter with wonder at the green of the trees and the small town feeling that it held. it was nostalgic , images from her brief childhood flashing by her eyes and causing the young girl to smile as she drove on.

when she finally pulls into charlie’s drive her smile grows larger. she adores her grandfather and was worried about him growing older after they left. of course he would visit every now and again but she worried about him here in forks. ever since sue passed he had been alone here. of course bella had assured her that the wolves checked in, but she still couldn’t help but wonder if he was lonely sometimes. something she intended to make right now that she had moved back.

it was her first time being anywhere without her parents and her first time living alone. edward and bella had agreed begrudgingly to let her move here after weeks of arguments back and forth and now ren resided happily at the old cullen house - remodeling it for esme in her spare time. eventually the family would come join her here - once everyone they knew were either passed on or too old to remember them. but for now ren had her freedom and she loved it.

she was musing on this new freedom as she made her way to the door - easily letting herself in and calling out a hello to charlie as she passed the threshold. she could hear someone in the kitchen and immediately made her way there - happily skipping before sliding to a stop when she encounters someone much to young - and too handsome - to be her elderly grandfather. 

‘oh. hello.’ she says in a soprano voice, skittering to a stop as she looks him over with her grin fading. ‘um, is charlie here?’ she asks not knowing he would have company. / @provisoris​

❛       𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆.     ❜        peeta's  gaze  is  steady  &*  soft  as  he  extends  a  bundle  of  cloth  –  warm  &*  round  ,  clearly  holding  bread  within.         he  gives  a  little  smile  ,  almost  timid.       ❛      free  of  charge.    ❜        a  lighthearted  joke  ,  considering  he  doesn't  work  for  his  family  anymore  now  that  he  lives  in  the  victor's  village.       this  was  made  of  his  own  free  will  –  &*  given  away  just  as  freely.       𝒊𝒕  𝒌𝒆𝒆𝒑𝒔  𝒉𝒊𝒔  𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒔  𝒃𝒖𝒔𝒚  ;  gives  him  something  to  do.         he's  made  plenty  for  katniss  &*  her  family  ,  along  with  haymitch  &*  even  effie.         he  tried  taking  some  to  the  hob  ,  but  the  peacekeepers  are  adamant  about  not  letting  him  distribute  anything  outside  of  the  victor's  village.       he  doesn't  feel  right  about  having  any  of  this  when  so  many  in  the  district  starve.       but  he's  not  breaking  any  rules  –  @provisoris  is  in  the  village  ,  visiting  katniss.       a  loaf  of  bread  is  worth  gale's  name  in  the  draw.         but  it's  free  here.         no  small  gift  ,  but  peeta  has  no  tally  to  keep.          ❛     take  it.      &*  don't  argue  ;  i'm  not  taking  no.    ❜

THICK BROWS FURROW IN IRRITATION as Jim slings open his desk drawer to pull out the pack of lucky strikes. Hands slide down to his pocket to grab his lighter, lighting up in the precinct - can you really call their one room dump as a precinct? as he inhales deeply, settling.

"It sure as hell is helping me, Hawthorne," Hopper responds, sitting down slowly as he kicks his legs up, resting them on his desk. " -- and the way I damn well see it, if it helps me, it helps you out considerably." He talks with the cigarette dangling from his lips, a true pro as he looks at the young man with and grunts. "Go write some speedin' tickets or somethin'. Get goin'."

He doesn't know what day it is. How long has it been since the arena, the quarter quell, since they'd pulled him out and thrown him in this cell? Drove can't be sure. The days have all blurred together even when he has been conscious, never mind when he hasn't, and for all he knows it could have been months or only days. What he does know is that everything hurts, his joints ache and tremble, his bad leg is worse now than it has been in years, and even if he wanted to, he doubts he could stand. They never leave him alone, they never leave any of them alone. The screams are embedded into his brain.

He can hear more than that now though, some sort of quiet commotion, footsteps coming in the direction of the cell. They've come back to hurt him again, he's sure of it, and with a soft whimper, the district ten victor does his best to wriggle backwards, back pressing against the wall, shoulders curled in on himself, breath coming in rapid gasps. When he dares crack an eye open though, it's a face he doesn't recognise, and certainly dressed like no one he's ever seen in the Capitol before. Still, he can't help but look with fear and confusion.
