If you are wondering how to order from Taobao and Alibaba if you don't live in China, the best way is to use a proxy buyer.

The proxy buyer is located in China, you give them money and they order the goods. The items are stored in their warehouse until you choose to have them shipped to you.

My proxy buyer is BaseTao, I've been using them since 2017 and they've been great! Their site has a reverse image search, and they will take pictures of all arriving items for free, which not all proxies do.

ANYONE ANIME NORTH ATENDEES DOWN TO BUY ME SOMETHING AT ARTIST ALLEY?

HELLO!! I am interested in an item that can only be purchased in-person at Anime North in Toronto, Canada...but unfortunately I'm stuck 3,500 miles away in Hawaii. 💔

One of the artists selling this zine is naro (@naroym_ on Twitter) and I believe they'll be at table #444 (right side blurred due to possibly disturbing imagery). It's the "Adachi risograph zine"

I'd pay for the price of the zine, shipping, and a little extra for your troubles (maybe $10-20?? or I'll buy YOU a copy if you're also an Adachi fan lol) via PayPal.

The zine itself is ~$25 USD. I'm not entirely sure if they'll have it out on their table, so please consider asking the artist/whomever is running the booth for a copy just in case it's a special "if you're in the know" situation.

Ideally you'd buy it, I reimburse you (within 24 hours), then we discuss shipping shortly after the convention is over. When everything is packed/ready to go, I pay for the shipping and then you drop that bad boy off at the post office!!

Please sandwich the book between thick cardboard/chipboard when shipping. I really don't want it to get bent on the way here.

I have good standing as a seller and buyer on Mercari and eBay (I'm not sure why this matters to some people but it does. I can and will pay you back asap.)

Japan Proxy Review - beansproutsong

I recently made a proxy order through the amazing @beansproutsong and was asked to write a review, which I’m more than happy to do!! If anyone is looking for a proxy in Japan to help buy Japanese merchandise, please do give them a chance!

I had asked @beansproutsong to help me proxy pull on a kuji/lottery for some merchandise for the mobile game series, A3! They were very quick with responding and even offered to do trades for me for the characters I wanted, which is a huge bonus that not all proxies have to offer! I had a large order and was looking for several characters and they were kind enough to do many trades for me! I was very, very happy with the end results!

A second item that I had them help me source and buy was a stage play DVD that I’ve been looking for for a while now. I wasn’t able to find it online at my usual sources and they were able to find it for me quickly and even gave me a several buying options (i.e. with or without bonus content).

In addition, their proxy fee is very reasonable considering the extra service that they did for me by trading! They also packaged all of my items nicely and shipped my package out in a timely matter! Communication is always very clear and quick with them, so I never felt like I was in the dark!

I’ve used several different proxies before and @beansproutsong was definitely one of the top ones I’ve worked with especially when it comes to communication and good pricing! They also have listings of what they’re able to buy, but please don’t hesitate to reach out to them if there’s an item you’re looking for that they didn’t list! I hope that this review helps anyone out there looking for some help with acquiring goods in Japan!
