For this weekend, people from all racial and ethnic backgrounds come out to New York to celebrate the Puerto Rican people's contributions to our city, our nation and the world. The national Puerto Rican Day Parade celebrates and honors the leaders, Educators, artist, and celebrities, as well as the 3.5 million inhabitants of Puerto Rico and over 5 million people of PR heritage residing in the United States. It shines a light on the cultural footprint Puerto Ricans have left on this beautiful Nation of hours. . Puerto Rican people are not just proud of being Latino/Hispanics, but we are also very proud to be Americans, and part of the greatest nation in the world, the United States of America. . It is an exceptionally special weekend for my family because we get to celebrate our own Puerto Rican heritage. Of course, you do not have to be Puerto Rican or have a single drop of PR heritage blood to come out and celebrate this fun NYC event. .
