Reposted from @dailysofrito This evening at 8pm, as a collective we are going to take you thru the Puerto Rican parade experience from a variety of perspectives that are not as common when you are watching from 5th Avenue or Channel 7. . Since 2014, @capicuculture has been covering the parade for the social channels and every year since we partnered with @rebeccagitana to bring you stories, experiences from within the barricades and on top of the majestic floats. We have for a long time, used the segments she has produced to celebrate the moment but have not delved any deeper to really appreciate the importance of the cultural bridge that exists with Puerto Rican’s between aquí and allá. . Today, when you strip us of our annual Puerto Rican uniforms, the crowds, the floats, all the flags (big and small), the TV cameras, the dj’s playing that really annoying loop, the politicians trying to convince you that they have your best interests in mind, if you promise them your vote in November only to forget you in January... and last but not least, surrounded by a police force that has repeatedly demonstrated that since 1619, the political machine in NYC has not recognized that #blacklivesmatter, you will see / feel this... a visual story woven together by a self taught tv producer, digital story teller and transformational healer Rebecca “Gitana” Torres. . She will show you perspectives too big for Instagram Stories, Tweets and Tik Toks. . She will take you both aquí y allá in a way that she only knows how in a moment that we have reclaimed. Visit the “Daily Sofrito” page on Facebook for this special cultural showcase tonight at 8pm to help raise money for @prparadenyc’s scholarship fund. 👨🏼🌾🌱🇵🇷 . #QueBonitaBandera @puertoricanflagsup - #regrann #PrFlagsUp #puertoricanflagsup https://www.instagram.com/p/CBas4-kJamc/?igshid=1xt2al3aogb1v
