I think I've asked you this before but how did alice feel about her wedding? Would she rather have eloped deep down or did she want a big affair? Did she like her dress? How did she deal with prudence and did she have to compromise on anything or did she get everything just the way she wanted it?

Alice probably always thought she'd never want some stupid big fancy church wedding with a big poofy dress and everyone staring at her the entire time... that is until the possibility of she and Hal getting married became more and more a reality and she realized that actually she deserved to have a day that was all about her where she was pampered and the center of attention and got to wear a dress that was worth more than her first car...

Of course Hal probably nervously suggested eloping to avoid the mess a wedding when bring even though he knew his parents would kill him and, honestly, he always wanted a wedding. But Alice was like "No no no... I will do the big wedding in the church and all that stuff. For you of course. This is all for you." And then proceeded to plan the entire wedding with Hal and not ask his opinion until he kept bothering her about wanting to help.

She and Prudence butted heads constantly. Alice was entirely willing to get married in a church but Prudence kept telling her she had to pull some strings with the priest to have it allowed and all. Alice wasn't raised in their church after all. Everything became pushback with them. Even when Alice liked a suggestion of Prudence's she fought against it and vice versa.

Thinking abt prudence and bunny seeing each other out and about today be it at the grocery store or just in the neighbourhood and wishing one another happy mothers day :')

Staaaph 🥺🥺🥺 they would. If they haven't already seen each other at some mother's day church brunch or something of course 🤧🤧

do you think hal was closer with his parents as a kid, teen, or adult?

I definitely think he was least close to them as a teen. Like most kids he drifted from his parents in those typical angsty teen years and I’m sure him making certain choices they were unhappy with (getting alice pregnant for example...) didn’t go over well and hurt his relationship with him.

I can see him being closest with them when he was a kid. Always more so with Prudence but he was still fond of his father (even if he was always a little jealous of how much closer gertrude was with him). I like to think as adults he reconnected with them though, maybe around the time the girls were born. Enough time had passed since his and Alice’s high school pregnancy and they’d already been married for a bit and his parents were excited to be grandparents and it just brought them all together again.

this is so random i’m sorry... but it’s 2am where i live and for some reason it’s really bothering me that i can’t picture lewis and prudence cooper in my mind so i was wondering if you could please maybe just give me a description of how you think they’d look/dress...again i’m so sorry this is just one of those late night thoughts lmaoo

@penelopeblosscm suggested Jessalyn Gilsig as a fc for Prudence forever ago and I feel it deeply. I'm undecided if she'd be quite as short as her... I imagine her being at least the same height as Alice. Long blonde hair, blue eyes. Never dresses as down to business as we saw Alice but never left the house dressed down. I imagine a lot of smart dresses and sensible heels. Probably had different purses to match her shoes, one of those people. Made regular trips to get her hair done... half because she liked to look her best and half because she loved the gossip of the salon.

For the life of us Alexa and I cannot come up with a fc for Lewis but we have such a distinct image of him. Imagine someone very 50s dadish. Very all American, properly dressed, glasses, always reading the newspaper he edits. (Hal got it from somewhere...) Strawberry blonde because those Blossom genes are still there. I see a lot of sweater vests. Modest in every sense of the word. Stoic and quiet... until he's pushed that is. Like Hal in that sense. A tad bit taller than Hal so maybe 6 even and more slender than him... he wouldn't be called beefy.

I don’t know if you’ve seen Bubble Boy, but the main character’s relationship reminds me of Hal and Prudence.

This is the funniest thing I've ever read.

Prudence absolutely would have kept her son locked in a sterile room if she had the choice. Also I know she totally told him lies his whole life to protect him. ("Ice cream has germs.")

And his dad never saying a damn word? Totally Lewis.

However the end with his parents on a motorcycle was absolutely halice.

did hal ever find out that lewis blamed him for the missing raw cookie dough that he himself ate?

When you have several reoccurring dreams of seeing your father with his head in the freezer eating your mom’s frozen stores of homemade cookie dough… you start to get a little suspicious. But his dad just really wasn’t the type to eat raw cookie dough. Or indulge in sweets in the middle of the night.

But time and time again he’d have the dream and soon after get chewed out by Prudence for eating it. Why did he keep having the dream but have no recollection of eating it? Damn was night snacking a problem.

Lewis went through a very difficult time when Hal left for college. He had to start skimming the frozen cookie dough ever so lightly from the top so his wife wouldn’t notice. And you best bet he pigged out whenever Hal was home from break.

did gertrude ever sneak out as teen?

Polly thinks she’s the champ of sneaking out of that house? That’s only because she doesn’t know her aunt Gertrude well enough.

Prudence and Lewis were always strict, but more so with her because she was older. It wasn’t that she wasn’t allowed to go out with her friends or go to a party. It’s that there was always a stipulation with it. “If you go to the mall, you must call me from a payphone when you get there and be home by 7:30 sharp.” “Of course you can attend a party. As long as there is adult supervision.”

Their rules always verged on going just too far and it drove her bonkers. So okay, she snuck out plenty of times where all she had to do was ask. But miraculously, she hardly ever got caught. And she loosened up her parents enough that they were never anywhere near as strict with Hal. Shame too, because Hal would have probably been plenty content staying home a lot of those nights. 

She likes to tell herself they were always easier on him because he was the baby of the family and not because he was the boy, but she was never entirely sure. And hell, as the end of the day she wasn’t the one who knocked up her Southside girlfriend, he was. So maybe they should have been a little more strict with him after all.

what happened at oscars funeral? do you know? was prudence there?

Remember how Fred was late to Jason’s funeral? It’s because it reminded him all too much of Oscar’s. Another one of Riverdale’s youth taken way too young.

The whole town attended Oscar’s funeral, so you better believe Prudence was there front and center. She never cared for Oscar as much as she did for Fred,. (fred may have had his faults but he was still a sweet natured young man whereas oscar was a bit more rough around the edges) but it was still a tragedy. Not only did he get hit with a car, but he was the one who sold liquor to the kids who do it. You better believe it caused a lot of talk in the town. 

Bernie could hardly control her sobs and Fred was hardly any better. Artie sat there stone face, but tears still streaming down his cheeks. It was the darkest day for the Andrews family.

Everyone went to the Andrew’s home afterwards. No one asked her to, but Prudence took charge and started uncovering casseroles and directing people where to put their jello molds. The Coopers stayed late that day and helped clean, wrap up food, do the dishes. 

Were Gertrude and Oscar in the same grade? Maybe, maybe.
