The Denesk Alliance
Living beside two massive, territory hungry, warring empires is a rough lot. The Ran’jara-Vesperian war was troubling, but otherwise easy to ignore by the nearby star-states and system governments, so long as they repelled the Ran’jaran murderers or swore begrudging alliance to the Vesperians. That all changed when a skirmish at the neutral world of Denesk ended with a crushing Vesperian defeat, and the Ran’jara, in their usual fashion, bombarded the defenseless planet from orbit. 4 Billion innocent Deneskans no longer live because of the inaction of their neighbors.
A group of ambassadors from these smaller states came together after this barbaric attack and decided that they could not rely on the overburdened, overextended power of the Vesperian Navy to insure the safety of neutral worlds any longer, and that each of these states were far stronger together than separate. What followed became a military alliance the likes of which were almost unheard of in this region of the Triangulum Galaxy. Even better, many of the alliance’s founding members were former rivals, who were engaged in a sort of cold war over border disputes. This alliance made the combined naval force of these individual species far more numerous and effective, evening the playing field against the aggressors.
The species represented in the Denesk Alliance navy are:
Lyrans - The de facto leaders of the alliance, who operated a rough exploratory boundary over most of the other states at one time before the Ran’jara-Vesperian War. No doubt the most scientifically advanced species in the group, though they have had disputes with several of the other species before. They are known to be morally upright, but proud, and easily appalled by the day-to-day lifestyles of other species.
Krikno - Operating massive armed bulk freighters and transports, the Krikno serve as the logistical arm of the Alliance, as well as operating some of the toughest ships in the Navy. As dedicated merchants with good relations with almost every species, their resource management and trade starmaps are the backbone of the Denesk Alliance itself, and encompass the political region it came into being.
Hulokk - Devoted scientists who operate massive and powerful, if somewhat flimsy warships. The Hulokk are known to be briliant, if somewhat squeamish tacticians. Their belief in science to overcome any obstacle is paramount to their society, and they are willing to make massive sacrifices in the pursuit of a perfectly operational and logical world.
Bantarr - Operating smaller but incredibly numerous warships, the Bantarr were once on their way to being a greater sector-spanning empire as well, but they arrived late to the scene and were surrounded by neighbors far more advanced than themselves. They live within a fierce warrior culture, and now aim that culture at the enemies of the Alliance. Their ships make up the lion’s share of the Alliance fleet, numerically.
Pryllons - Scientifically competitive and begrudging allies to their former enemies the Lyrans, the Pryllons are known for their independent and somewhat duplicitous nature. It’s not unlike the Pryllons to break off from their allied fleet, let them take most of the beating, and swoop in to ambush the aggressors at the last moment.
