How much sharpening do you put on your gifs?
it generally depends on the source video, the size of the gifs i’m making, and honestly what mood i’m in on any given day. i also sharpen live videos differently than other videos -- even more broken down than that, i sharpen music show performances differently than concert performances.
in short: it’s usually some varying combination of smart sharpen (0.2, 500%), gaussian blur (0.8-1.2 set at varying opacity), and topaz clean -- however, i tend to go really light on topaz and adjust the opacity of that as well depending on the gif. occasionally i’ll swap out clean for denoise, sometimes i’ll use both, but i’ve been sticking with clean only for my last few sets and it’s worked well for me i think. i also prefer to throw two smart sharpen layers at 0.2, 500% as opposed to one layer at 0.3, 500%. but that’s really personal preference.
