Meet the new CASA brass class at PS19Q, led by Jessica Santiago and Mariel Bildsten! Though our Cultural After School Adventures (CASA) grant from the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, we have been working in partnership with PS19Q, in Corona, to establish our first school-based children’s symphony orchestra. 17 3rd graders have started to learn trumpet and trombone A cohort of 4th graders have been learning woodwind instruments for their second year, and a new group of second graders started the PS19Q string orchestra earlier this year.  We are looking forward to bring them all together as a full symphony orchestra soon! CASA Orchestral Initiation Module starts at P.S. 19Q

With the support of the NYC Council, and Council Member Juilssa Ferreras, Núcleo Corona started its second year of the Cultural After-School Adventures (CASA) Orchestral Initiation Module at P.S. 19Q this January 29th. Thanks to  P.S. 19Q Principal, Mrs. Genie Calibar and her faculty and staff for opening its doors to our project!  Also thanks to our teaching artist Liz Ramirez and this year's resident Chamber Ensemble, the Pronto Woodwind Quintet. We are looking forward to continue with this project at P.S. 19 in thew coming years, and hopefully soon have the P.S. 19Q orchestra up and running!!
