One of the best things about the X-Men Origins: Wolverine video game is that it’s batshit insane.
In this game, you can:
Fight an obese man in a supermarket
Yeet people off a tower
Impale someone on a forklift
Fight a lava monster
Cartwheel e v e r y w h e r e
Random monster sounds in the Africa level. Is it the lava monster? Who knows. Don’t question it. And don’t call back.
Fight a guy on the giant neon casino sign
Stroll through a winter wonderland
Do parkour in New Orleans
Sit in a room with a cake for an hour
You see that tall thing?? Climb it
Everybody is yeet-able if you can get close enough!
Wolverine’s shirt keeps disappearing and reappearing but sometimes if you go into a corner and fiddle with the camera you can make it flash in and out of existence
Sometimes Gambit will pull an UNO reverse on existence and jump off the boss area. He will not come back. If you jump off, you die. Be one with the void.
Robots bleed. It’s indistinguishable from human blood. Don’t question it. Don’t look at it for too long.
Get impaled on the sword of a statue and wiggle off at Mach speeds to survive
Random animals in the Africa level run in front of Wolverine. Occasionally they’ll run into walls and phase through. Don’t follow them.
There’s an entire level that is just a massive Portal reference. You fight robots named Turrets. You have to use portals for a puzzle. The screens are playing a video that looks shockingly similar to the Aperture Science ads. If you find the aforementioned room with the cake in it, you get the achievement “The Cake Is A Lie.” I half expect Wheatley to pop out of a vent and kiss you on the mouth.
Find a sword with a skeleton in a cave
There’s the Sentinel boss fight with button pushing that I have a handy tip for: pick a god, and pray.
Fight yourself
Fight yourself, but in different costumes.
Sometimes people don’t stay dead. They’ll glide toward you in very contorted positions at max speed. I’ve only seen it once - just stab em and it’ll go away. Hopefully.
Wraith’s character model looks slightly unnerving for reasons I cannot name. I try not to look at it for too long, and neither should you.
Wolverine screams in pure, utter agony every time he levels up. You never get used to it.
You want to play a level where you’re basically the monster from a horror game? You can!
Crawl through vents like a creacher
Logan likes to steal things from dead bodies. This is a game mechanic. It helps you level up.
