Looking to the LORD for Mercy in Affliction

Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress: so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until he have mercy upon us.

Psalm 123

To You I lift up my eyes,      O You who are enthroned in the heavens! Behold, as the eyes of servants      look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maidservant      to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God,      till He has mercy upon us.

Have mercy upon us, O Lord,           have mercy upon us,      for we have had more than enough           of contempt. Our soul has had more than enough      of the scorn of those who are at ease,      of the contempt of the proud.

Finding Favor

My sunken eyes turn towards you,

The light above is your throne.

A slave, I look towards your hand,

For the hope of favor in this land.

Show us favorable paths,

As the contempt rains down,

Show us favorable paths,

Arrogance stings the proud.

We've had enough of them.

With scorn like thorns as whips,

They mock us as we broach,

Our eyes are beyond reproach.
