Process & Slide are two Goa and psytrance producers who hail from the UK. Both got their start in the mid-90s, with Slide going on to achieve some success in another duo called Cass & Slide. Slide was also a member of another somewhat accomplished Goa group called UX.
Process & Slide’s first work as a single unit date back to 1996, when they made four separate releases under the name Satori. Following that run, they reunited in 1998, contributing a song called “Creepy Crawly” to UK psy / Goa trance label Transient Records’ Transient 6 compilation.
This is quite a good and interestingly experimental piece of Goa / psytrance. With a considerably bare and speedy backbeat consisting of just acid pulses, a kick drum, and ticking hi hate, Process & Slide fill out the rest of the track by laying out a bunch of strange noises that sound as if they come from an IDM of glitch artist’s palette. At first, those sounds are sort of minimal, but as the track progresses, they become louder, longer, and eventually combine with each other, producing some absolutely wild melodies. There’s metallic ringing, squelching, a variety zaps, staticky blips, fuzzy acidic distortion, and stuff with jagged edges that words cannot properly describe.
Really unique late 90s Goa / psytrance from this UK pair.
