Hey Psych fandom!!!

I love seeing y'all still so active on here and jumping back into the party (this was one of my early fandoms!) but I'm hoping someone nerdier than me can answer a question.

Are the movies canon? Because I was on a post recently that was a character post about Gus and someone stated confidently that he was single and had no children. While that was true at the end of the series, it certainly wasn't by the end of the third movie!

So is the show considered a complete story and the movies additional stories that can be taken or left, like the books, or are they a direct continuation of the show canon that is definitively what happened when the show left off?
