has your internship started? how's it going??

Idk how I missed this, I’m sorry!! It’s good! Looooots of information which has felt very overwhelming. I worked five days in a row which was really tough, but then I had three days off so I could recharge. Went back today and I work for another five days in a row, but THEN I’m done with training!!!! After that, I’ll just be doing my regular two shifts a week. Can’t wait for things to slow down a little. I moved into the stepdown house this week, and my brother graduated from college on Monday so most of my family has been in town for almost a week and they want me to go to dinner with them every night and I’m just feeling in over my head in almost every aspect of my life. But the crazy thing is that even though my life feels kind of like a disaster right now…internally I’m actually ok. Stressed obviously, but stable. And I know all the things that are stressful right now are short term and things will calm down soon. So I’m actually feeling pretty good right now, all things considered :)

i have a 4:30 am wake up call to get to my internship in tilburg on time......the things we do for an education.                                                                             my supervisor keeps giving me these worried looks every morning. Pretty sure someone is going to ask if i want to nap in their office soon.

Okay so I need to write about the job interview I had on Tuesday. I was a nervous wreck when I went there! It's a place that offers various hobbies and help for girls from 12 to 28 years. The place was so nice, it was like a livingroom and a nice cafe combined. And they offered me coffee while I waited for the interviewers.. The boss of the whole place and the sexual violence worker interviewed me and it was so unofficial, even though they asked some tough questions. Well obviously it went well, since they said I seem to be very suitable for their work. Financially they can offer only one or max. 2 days a week work for me but still..! If they had the money I would be there the whole 5 months. You know the feeling when you find a place that would be perfect for you? That was it, really. The employees were so nice and genuinely interested in their work and the whole place was so welcoming. And the values in their work fit mine and the work offers challenges. BAWWW. If there's any way to make it work, I will do it. Because I want to work there, if it's only one or two days a week.

My anxiety with emailing has reached the point where I email things after the regular work hours. That way I have at least the evening free of having to handle the responses. Of course there's one exception, my supervisor. I mean, if he answers email on weekened, you're never really safe.. ಠ_ಠ

My friend and colleague (well that sounds fancy and adult) called me today and suggested some places I could contact concerning the internship. One email sent, 3 to go!

I'm so friggin' tired that I could just crawl under a rock and die. But even though I didn't get excactly what I wanted (a full 5 month internship), I still got a change to do gender sensitive work with sexually abused young women, individually or in group settings 1 or 2 days a week. And that's exciting. Now I just need to find another place that can offer me 4 or 3 days of work a week and pay for it. I may have to rant about this more later but now I just want to eat and sleeeep.

Ok so cutting out the rambling with my article version isn't going so well. Because I don't ramble so much to begin with, squeezing all the necessary things into 8000 words seems almost impossible. Crap. I'll just cut something out from the discussion section and send it to my supervisor, he'll know what to do. There's no way in hell I can squeeze this into 7000 words so that makes the choice easier, The Journal of Gender Studies is no longer an option. :D

In other news I messaged my friend who is a psychologist already and vented out my angst concerning the internship. Talking to her actually solved some of the concerns I have so.. I'm just gonna cross all my fingers and toes and whatever else I can that the interview on Tuesday goes well. Eep.

Fucking hell.

I don't even know what happened but I was in a presentation and I might have a shot with an internship. So there was some lecturers presenting gender sensitive work with sexually abused teens and young adults and they were really good. I felt like crying because both of them had social and health background but also other studies and gender studies! And the values in their organization. Baww! But yeah, I overcame my fear of speaking in public since I had to comment on some things AND after the lecture I went to talk to one of the lecturers if they could take a psych intern in their organization. She was so enthusiastic about my studies and all and said I should email their boss. Now I'm just dying, I wish they had the money to take me there! ;___;
