This month @lightintheatticrecords is releasing ACETONE 1992-2001, a double vinyl select anthology of SOME OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SHIT YOU COULD EVER HOPE TO HEAR by the unfortunately disbanded trio of #MarkLightcap (g), #RichieLee (b), and #SteveHadley (d). • Steve (@here_comes_the_warm_jets) and I met back when we were first getting into riding Displacement Hulls and have grown tight ever since. I've been lucky to have his solo music grace the end credits of #PsychicMigrations, and throughout #OsmoThrombo and #TemporalCollections (unreleased). • If you haven't heard #ACETONE yet, this 92-01 anthology is the perfect way to take a first deep dip into their lush sound. If your are already a fan, then you'll be grateful to have this selection of tracks living in one place together. • Huge thanks to @stormymondaygoods for turning me on to Acetone long before Steve and I crossed paths with the only Hulls at a mediocre SoCal beach break. Many thanks to LITA for putting this out (and sending me a copy). And most of all, thank you to Steve, Mark, and Richie for the goosebumps.

Psychic Migrations

Вчера был на показе Psychic Migrations – нового серф-муви от Volcom.

Фильм понравился: по-хорошему хипстерский, отличная операторская работа, модненькая цветокорекция, отменный психоделик рок в качестве саундтрека. Ну и конечно же просто фантастическая каталка! Здесь все: и глубочайшие проезды в трубах, и крышесносные эриалы, и радикальнейшие маневры. Хоть в фильме ребята мочат исключительно на коротких досках, но я, как любитель классического "соул" серфинга на снарядах побольше, все же снимаю шляпу перед их мастерством. Из того, что мне ближе по стилю, запомнилась часть с Ryan Burch, где он катает на фише собственного шейпа.

Фильм однозначно рекомендуется к просмотру всем неравнодушным к серфингу.

Также порадовало наличие в саундтреке композиции Against it группы Corners, творчество которой, я раскопал в дебрях Bandcamp около года назад:
