In 1990, Olivia Hussey played the role as Norma Bates, the mother of Norman Bates in Psycho IV. To me she did a remarkable job, I'm grateful she was part of the Psycho franchise.

She didn’t have to defend Norman’s honor like that and imply they slept together, but she did. And she was still suspicious and on her Mom’s side at the at point. It doesn’t really add anything to Norman’s trust in her, or her Mom’s convoluted plan, so why bother saying it? She just knew that it’d piss this sleezewad off to imply that human stringbean and recently incarcerated, formerly homicidal mamma's boy, Norman, would be a better lay than him.

It’s a good thing Norman didn’t hear that, because I’m pretty sure he’d have sliced his hand clean open and been useless the rest of the day.

...Oh wait, that happened anyway. Oops. Damn it Mary.

Mary is just...what a great character.
