Something that still haunts me to this day is how in the episode “Five Of A Kind” from Power Rangers In Space, the Pyscho Blue Ranger didn’t recognise TJ’s voice… like you had one job man. Know everything about him. And you failed.

Of Silvers and Reds

I’ve written more than enough origins for Virgie, but I love what ifs, so here we go again. Andros takes in an injured Virgie, gets close, freaks out, and Zhane makes a decision.

“What. The. Hell.” Those were the words out of Virgil’s mouth when Zhane, in his Psycho Silver guise appeared right in the middle of their ship with another Psycho Red-one that was an entire head shorter than Virgil himself.

The second red psycho was also crying, and shifted out of her psycho form to reveal what could easily pass for Virgil’s sister. She’s hardly going to notice the change around her, and is muttering to herself between sobs.

“Look, I need your help,” Zhane said. “Or, rather, she does. I know you don’t trust me as far as you can throw me and you all would probably rather kill me, but hear me out.”

Virgil wasn’t too keen on hearing him out at all, but exchanged a silent glance with his family before answering, “30 seconds.”

“Andros took in an injured girl and tended to her wounds. They spent the night and he freaked out because she happens to be a psycho red from another timeline and he thinks she tricked him,” Zhane said in a rush.

“Andros did what?” Virgil blinked.

“She did what?” Nokrea asked at the same time. “Eww....”

The psycho on the floor looked up for the first time. “I was hurting and vulnerable, okay? Did I entirely trust him, no! But I really couldn’t fight back and he seemed to actually care. And I wanted to know what that was like, because I don’t remember that ever happening. But then I don’t remember anything before being...created. Except for my name-Virgie.” She sniffled.

“Rangers don’t *care*.” Virgil practically spat out the words. But his voice was a little gentler.

“Mother does,” Photon reminded him. 

“That’s different,” Virgil replied.

“I cared enough to bring her here,” Zhane offered. “It’s not as if she can stay back on Andros’ ship-she was choking him when I found them.”

“Should’ve let her finish him off,” Virgil muttered.

“Look, the guy’s still my friend, even if he treated her like that,” Zhane retorted. “But the fact is...she didn’t deserve that. She was hurt and needed something from someone, and after he gave it to her, he stuck a knife in her back. Well, figuratively. I know you guys don’t trust rangers and probably never will. That’s fine. But please...look out for her. I don’t care what you do to me-though before you do it, I’d like to stick around for a little bit. Just to see if she’s okay.”

“You know, I think he’s actually not messing with us for once,” Axe murmured. 

“I see no harm in taking her in, but watch him,” Photon added.

“Fine.” Virgil huffed, and knelt down, easily picking up the fallen Virgie. “C’mon, you’re safe now. Why do you have to look like a female mini me anyway....”
