Sometimes we need to take a few steps back to move forward. Learning from history means development based on experience. Also there are many examples, that destruction is a needful thing, to create something new. Right now, Berlin and especially the club scene is facing a severe case of stagnation. Deep/Tech House, Trash Hits, mainstream R’nB HipHop, there’s no radicalism more for the avantgarde or leftfield hedonists. Indie became Maindie in the last years. Techno is a waste of time, there’s no more thrill for that after 30 years of 4 to the floor bassdrums. There’s a big lack of refreshment.

So, at the end of history as it seems, I’d like to take a retrospective of the most radical refreshment of pop culture in the last decades: 70s and early 80s Punk, (New) Wave, Krautrock and Synthie Electronics and their follow-ups are ment to be the fresh breath of air for Berlin culture. The spirit of West-Berlins Dschungel and Risiko, the Geniale Dilletanten of SO36, the squatted party locations of Post-Wende-Mitte. All this will be combined in a regular bar night taking place below a Kebap House in Berlin-Mitte. This place, this bar night, I call PSYCHO KELLER. If You ask Yourself “Qu’est-ce que c’est?” , then google for the post punk pioneers Talking Heads.

The Psycho Keller’s premier night will be Friday, the 16th of June at Club 27 (Weinbergsweg 27) in Berlin-Mitte (U8 Rosenthaler Platz).
