Don’t mind me just having a little OMG I FINISHED THE FUCKING MONSTER WIP Party.  

Not quite two years since it was first posted, but I started writing it June of 2017, then took a couple months off while I churned out 70,000 words of an original novel I still need to finish.  Preserving stats for posterity because I’m a nerd like that. 

Also it’s in a collection called Daddyforov, which I wasn’t aware of and amuses the hell out of me.

I just wrote the very last line of Pulses That Beat Double.  Holy fuck.

The rough draft is done.  It’s fucking done.  OMG.  Yes, the last two chapters need editing, but OMG.

PTBD Historical Digression #....the last

This isn’t going to be long but I wanted to share one of the last images I have for you before the story ends.  In both Chapter 17 and Chapter 18 Viktor and Yuuri visit the Brunswick Hotel in Hanover Square.  It was one of the premiere hotels in London in the Victorian period, hosting foreign royals and heads of state, etc.  

It looked like this.

(Obviously a later photo, given the car out front, but you get the idea.  One of the reasons I chose this hotel was because of its location.  Hanover Square is not only fashionable, but also the location of the famous St. George’s church, which was where all the super fashionable nobles were married.  Now, I don’t know that Viktor and Yuuri would be married in an Anglican church, given I assume Viktor would be Orthodox and Yuuri not Christian at all.  But still, it seemed too good a location to pass up, given its association with weddings.  

So I guess that’s a hint of what to expect in the Epilogue, huh?

PTBD Historical Digression #4

So this is one of those situations, like finding out how freaking fast mail was in Victorian England, where I am surprised by how modern things were.  And also a time when I’ve basically been wrong.

When I wrote Viktor leaving London and going back to St. Petersburg, I had him do so by ship.  I imagined this took weeks.  For some reason, I didn’t consider travel by train across that distance.  

But this time...I checked how long the trip would take.  And found out, actually, by train, you could get from London to St. Petersburg within 10 days in the 1880′s.  By 1914 that time was 5 days.  I’m pretty freaking impressed.

So yeah, a ship was a stupid idea.  LUCKILY I went back and while I did say he left by ship I never specified how long the trip took, so let’s assume he took a boat to France or something and then got a train.  

If you think me checking my details bodes well for the status of the next chapter...you are right.

God, the problem with having writer’s block for months, or whatever I’ve had, is that when I look at my WIP file now I just have all these fragmented notes to myself that apparently meant something at one point.  Like I’d have an idea and say “I need to write this down so I remember what I was going to do” and then I write down “gets on the boat” and like...expected myself to know what I meant?

Also my notes flagrantly contradict each other.  

This is what happens when your mental map of your story ends with..”and then stuff happens and it’s a happy ending.”   I’m in the “stuff happens” part of my outline.  I hate past me.
