Ok, back to bloggin':
West German Art Pottery refers to pieces that were created in West Germany between 1949 and 1990. The style features large, geometric designs on decorative pottery like vases, jugs, and bowls. These pieces are often called “Fat Lava” by ceramics collectors, referencing a thick glaze used by many manufacturers which resulted in a bold colours, heavy contrast, and solid, tactile finishes.
The red and brown vase is by Scheurich-Keramik, one of the largest and most prolific studios of this era. They are still in operation today. The large blue vase was made by Carstens Tönnieshof who were in operation until the late 1970s. The company branded its pottery with a ‘double-house’ mark.
Both of these pieces are currently available on our Etsy shop. Free pick up and delivery for the Peterborough area.

Day 1804
People of the internet, it’s Jesse Cook!
My parents would play his albums endlessly over dinner and I’ve seen him twice live already, so it was so cool to be able to see him play again in Peterborough. He got everybody up and dancing to his rumba, flamenco and other worldly styles.
Surprisingly his band has remained the same after all these years and I even recognized his frequent requests to have a ‘Rumba Party’ from his old shows. The guy on the fiddle was an exceptional highlight as he swapped between that and a variety of other instruments.
Good call Peterborough Musicfest for getting Jesse Cook to come to town.
Today I saw Jesse Cook play at Peterborough Musicfest.
Yesterday I had the joy of doing some Live Drawing documentation of Peterborough’s LGBTQ+ Task Force Community Forum.
The Task Force is a network of LGBTQ+ professionals in the community who want to “foster a spirit of inter-sectorial (e.g. health, education, business, law enforcement, volunteer and support services) collaboration and multidisciplinary participation in initiatives that advocate for, develop and promote a sustained culture of opportunity, equity and inclusivity for individuals of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions (LGBTQ) in the City and County of Peterborough.”
The event itself called out to the LGBTQ community at large to talk about what they want and need in their lives. There were lots of notes taken, of course, but my job was to document some of the images and emotions as well as what was said.
You can learn more about the LGBTQ Task Force on their Facebook and Twitter profiles!
If you can, please consider supporting me on Patreon so I can make more art!
