Creature designs for one of my books! I will learn to draw horses someday.
I previously drew a more detailed Pterippus, and here I tried to stylize it a little to make it easier to draw. Jury's still out on whether or not I succeeded. Their foals are born with flesh and fur and only a few outcroppings of stone, but as they grow older the stone armor spreads to encase them entirely. Their feathers and hooves, however, are made of metal from the getgo.
It took me a bit to figure out what I wanted to do with the Unicorns to keep them from looking dull next to the Pterippi, until I eventually hit on the idea of upping the plant motif. Their hooves and horns are made out of wood, and various plants grow in their manes and tails.

G1 year2 Pegasus ponies. I'm not really happy with this Medley which is why she's being uploaded before I've finished the others. After I finish Firefly I'll come back and changer her to fit my headcanon.

So my theory of the pegasi, is that they’re very small ponies. They’d have to be small and super light to be able to fly, and as such their bones would be hollow like a birds, and rather large chests home to large powerful lungs and muscles. They spend a lot of their time high in the sky, so they’d have super thick and waterproof (oily) fur to keep them warm and dry. To be able to stand on the clouds they’ve got rather large hooves for weight displacement. And tail feathers to help them balance and steer while flying.
