Yes, Trefoil is a deliberate callback to Silver Shamrock from Halloween III! However, their motivations are quite different this time and don't involve killer masks (that niche is already kind of filled out by Malabog in this setting.)

Coined by me, @jinxneo, on June 10, 2026, the term was created as a more positive replacement for the term “femboy”, a word with a history of being used negatively against trans individuals. Swans are one of the species where homosexuality is prevalent, with around 20% of couples being male loving male or mlm. Swans also are symbols of self-love, transformation, and inner beauty, which is what makes them the perfect symbols for gender non-conforming individuals.
