Imunna talk about food and weight for a minute
**So, if you have food issues, please scroll on by
I don't really get food. Or weight, for that matter. Flat out out don't get. And unless I eat far too much, most days I get home and go "I have 900 calories to eat for dinner... What?" Because more often than not, I haven't made it to 1400 calories. Which boggles me, because at 170 lbs, shouldn't I be struggling to consume less? My gym membership recently re-activated, and so I've been going. Part of going to my gym is every few months they do a "fitness check", take your weight and measurements and do a free 1/2 session with you. So, I went for my check. They asked me how much I weight, I told them. They asked how frequently I'd been working out, I told them. Then they told me I weighed too much for my age/height/etc and said they'd like to do a nutrition session. I said sure. They asked if I kept track of what I ate, I said yes, and told them I averaged around 1400 calories a day. Then they frowned.
I'm starting to side with the people who say that the "weight" isn't really the issue. I am physically fit. Every time I work out with a trainer they are surprised by how much weight I can lift -- even for a person who hadn't seen the inside of the gym for six months, I can still do a decent ammount. I keep up with my gym buddy, and she's a six times a week for two hours girl.
I eat the right amount, (or just under it). And I weigh 170 lbs. Those are just the facts of the matter. My roommate is a size four and eats velveeta shells and cheese for dinner every other night and goes to the gym about once a week to sit on the bike for thirty minutes.
And so -- it pisses me off. Pisses me off that people assume I 1) need to diet, 2) have no respect for myself or my health, 3) have portion control issues or nutrition issues and 4) need to exercise more because I am "out of shape". I am NOT out of shape, THIS is my fracking shape and it has been my entire life. The one time I dropped to a size 6 I was STILL 150 lbs, and had just gotten home from Lithuania where I lived on cabbage, rice, beans, and beer.
What I weight, and my so-called-health are none of the publics concern. And frankly, if my doctors or the gym tennants cannot deal with the fact that I may weight 170lbs while eating properly and maintaining a good level of activity then they too, may shut the fuck up. Because its under control, and its good. So the commentary can stop.
