Northern Parula (Setophaga americana). Immature male (probs) or maybe a female bird; idk, I'm still learning. Central Park, NYC (2025) It was only one tree down from the Canada Warbler.
I'm subbed to a lot of bird blogs, and I joined one of the bird lovers comms here on fumblr. And I've learned a very important lesson about creativity.
I'm trying to get "good" bird photos. Not great. But good enough. What does that mean? I don't know. But some of my pics are getting reblogged around, which is nice. But I'll be scrolling along going, 'OMG, bird!' And then I'll realize, 'Hey that's *my* bird.' And I'm immediately struck by the fact that my first reaction was not criticism but just, 'Wow, here's a thing I like and it's cool.'
Very important lesson here for me*. Get it done, get it out, and forget it. I used to know this when I worked in the theatre.
I should have done that with my writing. I'd be a better writer today. Maybe it's not too late to start.
Damn... I went out of the house without a respirator for less than three minutes to drop something off at the neighbours', and I now I need to lie down from the fucking smoke inhalation.
