A few snapshots from the new ROH La Boheme sets and costumes by Stewart Laing - http://www.untitledprojects.co.uk/artistic-director/stewart-laing I was lucky enough to watch a live recording in a cinema of this new production of La Boheme. The sets and costumes produced supported the story and emotional content of the music very well for me. From the patterns and fabrics of the costumes to the large scenic elements and the choice of objects, evreything fit well together to create the ‘world’ the actors inhabited. 

I felt that the set had good balance of realistic and abstract(poetic) elements. I would love an opportunity to sit down with Stewart and talk about his process. The push and pull between the director and the conductor  and the inspirations and iterations that led to this final magical result.

To keep me sane when writing assignments, I love to listen to opera.

I may fail my 2nd year of uni, a course which costs me £9000 a year…

But, I will be well educated in the likes of Rossini, Puchini, Mozart and many more.
