I admit, I have studied voice and sung/performed for years. And yet, every time I get up there onstage, there’s a very familiar feeling... that I’m not good enough, that I’m going to screw it up, I’ll be flat or sharp or miss my cue, that nobody will applaud... at least the good thing about being a sad clown is that you’re prepared for disappointment. The greatest thing happened though - even though I was incredibly nervous, according to friends in the audience, I killed it! Jeremy snagged some video, and I hope you enjoy it as much I enjoyed doing it. I had a large library of songs that I had rehearsed for being Puddles, but I chose “All The Small Things” by Blink 182 because a) it hits the hook very quickly so I won’t be taking up too much time, b) it’s a ridiculously popular song, and c) it’s thematically appropriate. I didn’t perform it as well as Puddles, (who could, though?) but even though I missed the little touches that elevates the Scott Bradlee arrangement above and beyond the original, I still feel that I did the best I could with the huge bundle of nerves I was. Sincere praise and respect to Scott Bradlee for the arrangement, and to Postmodern Jukebox for the backing band, and most especially to Puddles for making it awesome. I’m really looking forward to wearing the cosplay again; I had so much fun it’s unreal.
