20. What-ifs/Alternate Timelines [list]

What if Maxx and his father had never been kidnapped? What if he went to school like a normal kid? College?

He’d be a little nerd who loves studying Astronomy and the Mists. He’d want to learn enough about either to be able to teach what he loves. He’d still live in Rata Sum. That’s where all the best teaching gigs are.

He’d love animals and maybe even have a pet of his own. He’d have different friends and lots of connections with people. He’d be enthusiastically talkative and fearless and brave.

Basically... he’d be everything he’s not now.

Honestly? Easiest way? A good punch in the neck.

Aside from violence, tho... He’s very sensitive about his relationships. He’s mostly fine & nonchalant about himself & his accomplishments, but even suggesting that he has no friends or that people won’t really like him for who he is is guaranteed to get him to shed a few tears. Maybe not right then, but definitely that same day.
