I take back everything I said last year about snapchat. It has brought me all the joys of watching my friend slather salsa on a burito.. mmm yes the sloppy sensation of wet salsa drizzling upon the lightly powdered shell of a mouthwatering hot gooey delight. What a time to be alive!

Sweet beer tits. My frigin' weekend, you guys.
So my band play at the biggest yearly festival we have in town, and since we were newcomers to it, we got put on the bill as the second band to play on the first of two day. The first band, also local, and way older than us, had literally six people watch their set, so needless to say, Matt, Lucas, and I were all never as hell that we would also have a shitty turn-out. So with only about 10 people there to watch, we played one song, got super rapped up in it, and barely looked up. Come the last couple notes, there was just this crazy moment, I looked up, and we 80-100 people watching. So, quite obviously, we became SUPER pumped. As we played more songs, everyone got more and more stoked, and more and more people even showed up! By the end of our final song, I was just as excited as a kid on Christmas, because I just couldn't believe how good we did, and honestly, we probably had one of the best turn-out of all the bands playing! But all that, nowhere NEAR the best parts! COOL FUCKING THING #1: On the back to the site to set up camp, some random dude called to me as Elycia and I were going by. Turns out they were the guys from the band Epi-Demic, and he wanted a CD, and I mean REALLY BAD! I told him we aren't going to have recording finished for a month or so most likely, and that we would put up a song for free on our Bandcamp. We talked for abit out my riffs, and some other stuff and then we bid them adieu and kept going towards our tent.
COOL FUCKING THING #2: Later on during the night, a buddy of ours who live, runs, plays at, the big local venue in town came over to our campsite and was just all over congratulating us telling us all the good stuff that people were saying about us! Somewhere in the conversation recording came up, and he told us that he would throw in a good word with Chewy (sweet dude, actually named Dave who's in a ton of awesome bands), so that we could record right in town, with kickass equipment, DIRT CHEAP. COOL FUCKING THING #3: Justis, the proprietor of the whole shindig, came up to us when we went back down for the next band, and was just unmatched when it came to compliments. I told him, "Well, hell! No worries, dude! We'll headline next year!", to which he gave a pretty "Not a bad idea!" gesture, and hugged it all out with us, and went on his merry way. COOL FUCKING THING #4: After Iskra played, Lucas (my drummer), came walking up with a guy I know named Andrew. Andrew plays in a few bands, most notably, the local band Damned Grave, and if I could even explain how much they slay, or how much I love that band, I would, but I can't. So Andrew starts telling me how cool he thought our set was, and how much he loved my riffs and writing. The whole time, Lucas, is just staring at me with this shit-eating grin on his face, and it confused the fuck out of me until Andrew said, "So yeah, the main reason I wanted to come over here, was that Darrell (Bass/Lead Vox for Damned Grave) came up to me during your guy's set and just wouldn't shut up about how sweet he thought it was, which I definitely agree with, but he was think about how Damned Grave wants to put out some stuff soon, and maybe if you guys were interested, maybe doing a vinyl split, Damned Grave and Dioxin?". MY JAW. HIT. THE GROUND. I pretty much just nodded like an idiot for a good ten seconds, and then explained doing a split with them would be the coolest thing fucking ever! COOL FUCKING THING #5: Wolf from Iskra insisted that we learn a Carnivore song to cover, we all just looked at each other like, "Yeah, def's happenin'". So that'll be a thing, soon. COOL FUCKING THING #6: Bought Iskra merch, got invited to come hang out with Iskra, hung out with Iskra. COOL FUCKING THING #7: Had a fucking awesome time all weekend with my drunken boys, my lovely lady, and a metric buttload of new friends, cool folks, and rippin' bands. To quote Matt, "Shred the Loops IV, I’m counting down the days."
