Mack’s insertion into this storyline has to be for a particular reason. Because Aaron could tell Mack about everything without Mack confronting Kev. We know Kev gets in his face but what if he says something about possessing Robert or how he saved Robert and therefore Rob owes him or something of that sort. And then Mack turns around and tells Aaron all of that? It would give credence to what Rob was trying to tell Aaron from someone who doesn’t know pre-prison Robert. Right now, Aaron doesn’t believe what Rob is telling him, so having an outsider be all, “yeah, no mate. This guy is terrifying and the way he spoke about Robert gives me a really bad feeling” could be what causes Aaron to take a beat and actually pay attention.
