November, 1931 Shadow Case File #4
With his haunting laugh and cloaked appearance The Shadow is easily able to “strike fear into the hearts of men.” However, sometimes a little more field work is necessary.
Among his many cunning skills, The Shadow is an expert master of disguise. The most notable and popular of these is millionaire Lamont Cranston. In fact, the secret identity of Cranston has become so ingrained in the public’s consciousness that most assume The Shadow and Lamont Cranston are one in the same. However, fans of the pulp novels know that The Shadow is in a mutually beneficial arrangement with the real Cranston to assume his identity while he is out of town.
As the series progressed, The Shadow slipped effortlessly though numerous personas such as businessman Henry Arnaud, the elderly Isaac Twambley, and Fritz the dimwitted NYPD janitor. Ultimately, his many identities enabled him to gather important facts, float through affluent parts of society, and eavesdrop on the criminal underworld.
Like a chameleon, The Shadow is always watching...
