“Kent Allard.. is an aviator, and a very daring one. A man, too, who will undertake any difficult task. But if you told Allard that I was The Shadow, I am certain that he would never believe you.”

This particular issue broke with tradition and featured actor Rod La Rocque on the cover. This was in conjunction with the 1937 release of the film “The Shadow Strikes.”
However, for me it just doesn’t feel like a proper cover without it being painted.

For good or bad, certain 1980s comics created the idea that The Shadow does not age and somehow has achieved immortality. The Shadow is definitely human in Gibson’s stories, and this element has since become rather divisive among fandom.
This idea continues today in the most recent “Shadow/Batman” comic.

Did you know that very few of The Shadow’s trusted agents ever appeared on the famed radio programs starring Orson Welles and others? While Harry Vincent appeared in the first episode, it was mainly left to Margo Lane to assist Cranston/The Shadow in his crime fighting duties.

Did you know that the pulp version of The Shadow did not have the ability to cloud men’s minds and appear as a disembodied voice? This was a creation of The Shadow radio program.
Similar to Batman, he had to rely on his own wits and help from gadgets, as well as a little bit of his own specific hocus pocus.

And how are all the agents liking the new “Batman and The Shadow” comic book series from Dynamite/DC?
August, 1937 Shadow Case File #131
“The Shadow Unmasks” is widely considered one of the most important stories in the history of the character. When the real Lamont Cranston is reported injured in a plane crash, The Shadow must revert to his true identity of famed and missing aviator Kent Allard to combat the criminal underworld!
Allard would eventually become one of The Shadow’s many identities he would use, however, to those in the know it is his real one.

“Grim and foreboding as death itself, the House of Silence guarded well its impregnable secret. Then from hidden lips of The Shadow came mocking laughter that pierced the stillness, to bring to light the terrible secret that long had remained hidden! “

Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men today? The answer is the same as it always has been, thanks to a new comic book series launching this August from Dynamite Entertainment that brings the iconic pulp hero into contemporary times. As ever, The Shadow knows.
The Shadow: Leviathan follows the current Batman/The Shadow comic book series, and sees X-Men: Legacy and Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor writer Si Spurrier teaming with artist Daniel HDR for a story that places the hero — who debuted in 1930 on the Detective Story Hour radio show — in the modern world where the rules, and the bad guys, aren't exactly what he might be used to...
Leviathan will be the latest Shadow series Dynamite has produced since licensing comic rights to the character, owned by Conde Nast, in 2011. Earlier series, including ones written by Preacher co-creator Garth Ennis and fan-favorite writer-artist Matt Wagner, have been set during the character's heyday of the 1930s.
The series will launch in August, with covers by Daniel HDR, Neal Adams, Kenneth Rocafort, Tyler Kirkham, Brandon Peterson and classic Shadow artist Aaron Michael Kaluta.

Hey everyone! So, rather than coming back this Monday I figured let’s cap off the week with a pretty great cover if you ask me!
Big Shadow news happening over the coming months. Happy weekend!
May, 1937 Shadow Case File #126
For all those that have been asking “The Shadow 365″ will return next Monday, May 29th.
Until then, The Shadow is watching...

Due to a healthy bit of irony, “The Shadow 365″ has itself been called into a bit of crime fighting with a little thing called jury duty.
However, rest assured agents that transmissions will resume once this particular case has been solved and I am let back into the world.
Over and out...temporarily.

“They call me The Shadow. Whatever may happen in this house - and much will happen - you can rely upon my protection.”
April, 1937 Shadow Case File #123
In this tale full of intrigue, The Shadow teams up with America’s top secret agent to bring down a beguiling female international spy.
