The  way  Caitlyn’s  head  just  turns  more  into  Vi’s  neck,   body  relaxing  against  body,   hands  splayed  along  Vi’s  back.    Caitlyn  relaxed,   blue  eyes  closing.   Vi’s  warm  ...  and  she’s  firm. 

“   I  haven’t  seen  you  all  day.    I’m  pleasantly  surprised   ...   you’re  still  here.    Did  you  at  all  go  anywhere  today  or  are  you  actually  letting  yourself  heal?   ”     Caitlyn’s  voice  is  just  this  muffled  whisper  into  Vi’s  neck  but  there’s  always  something  different  about  it  when  talking  to  Vi,   like  it’s  never  been  as  natural.

“   Hi  puppy,   ”    is  what  Caitlyn  says.

And,   there’s  no  hesitation  in  the  way  Caitlyn  slides  off  the  barstool  and  moves  to  stand  in  front  of  Vi.   Back  arched,  head  tilted  sideways  and  upwards  to  look  at  the  tall  woman’s  features.    Caitlyn’s  just  wearing  this  loose  black  spaghetti  strap  tank.   A  pair  of  jeans.   Her  tattoo  ran  from  her  wrist  to  her  elbow.   It  looks  like  vines  and  various  flowers,   but  if  you  look  close  there’s  guns  intertwined  as  the  vines.

“   It  looks  like  you’re  blocking  things  with  your  face  again.   ”

It’s  the  way  Caitlyn’s  always  more  hunched  into  herself  whenever  she’s  in  Zaun  --  probably  the  same  way  Vi’s  always  more  distant  when  she’s  in  Piltover.    Because  they  should  be  Oil  and  Water,   they  should  be  complete  opposite,   but  they  weren’t  really  --  they  navigate  each  other,   come  to  a  line,   UNDERSTAND .    Caitlyn’s  just  sitting  in  the  booth,   Vi  doing  all  the  talking  next  to  her.   The  Enforcer’s  arms  are  crossed,  leaning  forward  slightly,   head  down,   hood  covering  her  face,  only  the  slightest  blue  hair  peeking  out. 

Caitlyn’s  head  snaps  up,   though,   almost  instantly  when  Vi’s  hand  presses  against  her  lower  back.   It’s  not  even  that  Vi’s  touch  caused  the  reaction,   it’s  the   WHY.    Blue  eyes  jump  around  before  landing  on  Vi’s  features,   like  she’s  trying  to  figure  out  if  there’s  danger  she  should  be  aware  of.

Caitlyn  still  can’t  pinpoint  it.    Where  exactly  she  became  connected  with  Vi.   WHY  IS  THE  EASIER  ANSWER.   There’s  quite  a  few.   A  thousand  even,   but  when  and  where  in  everything  that  happened,   something  shifted  from  untrusting  to  feeling  empty  when  Vi  isn’t  around.    And,   all  Caitlyn  can  do  when  she  forgets  her  question  is  stare  up  at  Vi  with  a  smile,  trying  to  figure  out  where  all   THIS   happened.    Her  thumb  runs  across  the  back  of  Vi’s  knuckles.

“   Do  you  ever  get  mad  that  it  was  shimmer  that  saved  your  life   ...   or  that  I  gave  it  to  you?   ”

*     [ @punchfrst​ ]     —     ' so why did you wake me up in the middle of the night? ' - to caitlyn     //     this  was  random,   always  accepting.

“   ...   Usually  you  aren’t  even  sleeping.    I’m  sorry,   I  just  wanted   ...   ”    Caitlyn  just  sort  of  breathes  out.

Affection  is  both  simultaneously  hard  and  really  easy.    Then  again,   she  hasn’t  particularly  cared  for  someone  like  she  cares  for  Vi.    This  is  new,  a  new  love.   A  new  romance,   not  everyone  else  that  has  been  fun,   almost  unexpected.   This  hit  her  like  a  whole  train.    She  just  continues  moving  forward  until  she  was  laying  right  next  to  Vi.    One  hand  reaches  out,   palm  on  Vi’s  chest  above  her  heart.

“   Do  you  still  like  me?   ”     That  sounded  so  juvenile,   Caitlyn’s  voice  barely  above  a  whisper.

Sometimes I think about how Caitlyn knows Jinx is responsible for the Progress Day explosion which caused like 4 or more deaths and her own injury, then there’s the fact Jinx kidnapped her while naked and painted a stupid little smile on her mask, which was so incredibly mocking and Caitlyn STILL hesitated to pull the trigger because Vi asked.

It’s  that  exact  laugh  Caitlyn  makes,   short,   amused  when  someone  has  said  something  she  doesn’t  want  to  admit  makes  her   ...   happy.     “   Does  that  mean  we’re  partners  again?   ”

we  were  discussing  memory  loss    :/

“   You  don’t  remember?   ”     A  pause,   Caitlyn’s  eyebrows  furrowing,   taking  a  single  step  back  from  Vi.     “   Don’t  lie  to  me.   ”

Although,   the  blue  eyes  that  were  previously  transfixed  to  Vi’s  face  suddenly  flicked  away.   They  move  back  and  forth  --  that’s  the  tell  tale  sign  Caitlyn’s  mind,   like  the  detective  she  is,   is  going  through  everything  in  her  head.   It’s  not  looking  good.    Every  single  sign  that  she  refused  to  believe  in  because  she  was  trying  to  overlook  the  one  person  she  loves,  she’s  been  trying  to  protect  --  she  failed  at,   at  least  mentally,  and  somewhere  in  the  rapid  beat  of  her  heart,   that  just  hurts.

That’s  kind  of  selfish,   though.
